David Claydon Photography Hi, I’m David Claydon. My camera connects me with nature, capturing the natural world while being present in the moment.

Whether it’s the soft light of sunrise, the stillness of a forest, or the ever-changing sky, I find peace and inspiration via my lens.

I was fortunate to attend a woodland photography workshop at Captain’s Wood and Staverton Thicks with Gill Moon Photography earlier this week. I learned so much and I would thoroughly recommend Gill’s workshops to anyone who wants to improve their photography. Here is one of my favourite images taken at Captain’s Wood

The Swan Air Force synchronised flying team have announced they will be conducting low flying drills over Orford in Suffolk again today. Viewers are advised to look out for, and avoid, falling debris from the aircraft.

In the hush of a forest where shadows lie deep,
Where secrets are cradled and willows weep,
A fox slips by on whispering feet,
Cloaked in the dusk, so swift, so fleet.

Her coat is fire in the fading light,
A flicker of gold against creeping night,
Eyes like amber, sharp and sly,
A sliver of moon beneath the sky.

She dances between the trees like smoke,
A myth that stirs with every oak,
Her laughter’s lost in rustling leaves,
A thief of time, of tricks, of eves.

The hunters wait, with breath held tight,
But she is the riddle, the edge of night—
A phantom flame that none can snare,
Gone with the wind, thin as air.

She knows the paths where dreams have tread,
Where moss grows thick on ancient dead,
And in her wake, the wild hearts stir—
For foxes dance where dreams confer.

A bee heading for breakfast

The UK is home to more than 270 species of bees, but only one of them is the familiar honeybee (Apis mellifera). The rest include bumblebees and a wide variety of solitary bees, each with unique behaviors and habitats.

Unlike honeybees, which can have colonies of up to 60,000 individuals, bumblebee colonies are much smaller, often with fewer than 400 bees. They usually die off in winter, with only the queen surviving to start anew in spring.

Red mason bees, common in gardens, are solitary bees and amazing pollinators — a single mason bee can do the pollination work of over 100 honeybees, especially for fruit trees like apples and cherries.

Many UK bee species are in decline due to habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change. Projects like Buglife, Bumblebee Conservation Trust, and Wildflower meadows initiatives are working hard to reverse the trend.

A stunning Barn Owl at sunset. I had been in the hide all day and had just started packing up when the owl flew by so close I could almost touch him. I don’t know who was more surprised, me or him.
