Saturday 28th April attending the Dedication of a Memorial Plaque to airmen from Australia, Canada and South Africa who died in 1917/18 while training at Chattis Hill and Lopcombe Corner. We were there at the invitation of Dr Morwenna Collins who recently contacted us, being interested in our work.

It was an event where the heroes were not just the servicemen we were there to remember and pay our respect to, but also the children of the various scout groups. They have spent time researching these brave men who gave their lives in some of the earliest aircraft - Sopwith Camels.

They have ensured these men’s moving stories are preserved for future generations - a principle that drives our own work in film and photography.

Visiting guests came from many of these countries and it was great to see Ken Mallett from Canada who was a great-nephew of 2nd Lieutenant Ray Mallett of the RAF who gifted scout badges to the children from his local ‘Northern Lights’ scout group.
