I know booking in a photo shoot can feel like a big step. It's not just thinking about squeezing it into your busy weekends, it's planning outfits, wondering how your kids will cope, feeling anxious about being in front of the camera. I get it! But I also know how much you want up to date, beautiful photos of your family.

That's why I wrote my mini session guide. Everything you need to feel in control and ready for your photo shoot. I walk you through every step of what to expect, how to make sure your kids have a great time and even what you wear.

Once you're at your session, I've still got you! After years of working with kids then having two boys of my own I'm the master of combining patience, understanding and silliness to help them relax and come out of their shell. There's nothing they can do to surprise me!

Can I take a little moment to say happy 10 year anniversary to my husband!? (Scroll to the end to see us as babies, only a week into dating!)

Blink and you'll miss it.

It feels like yesterday we were 21, just getting to know each other. Somehow, in just that blink, we've got married, travelled, moved city, changed jobs, started businesses and grown our own little family.

If I had the choice, I wouldn't hesitate. I'd do it all over again.

You are still my safe place, my best friend.

10 years ago we spent a week in Bude, getting excited at the first time somebody referred to me as 'your wife'! This weekend we're back, ready to slow down and look back over the last decade together (child free!). Maybe we'll even take some up to date photos, you never know! 😂

Did you know I'm opening up my Wiltshire minis for booking on Monday the 1st!?

Wiltshire mini sessions are being held this year on the 13th of September, I'd absolutely love to see you there!

Booking is currently only for my mailing list (if you'd like to join, just pop me a message!) but it'll open up to everyone in just a few days.

Photos with mum! 😍

As a mum I can almost guarantee, you're not in nearly as many photos as you should be. Let's fix that shall we? For our kids, for ourselves.

You know exactly what it's like. You turn up somewhere new with your chatty, excited two year old and the moment they get there they clam up. Suddenly they can't speak a word, their smile is hiding away and they're clinging to your leg.

This is SO normal. You're their safe person, they need a little bit of time to sus out whether this place or person are going to be safe, too.

But how does that work on a photoshoot? Especially a mini session where you only have 15 minutes and you're *really* hoping they'll actually be smiling in their photos!

Expectations- I would never expect a young child to immediately warm to me and am never offended. If there's something they don't want to do, we move on and try something new.

Arriving on time - If a child feels rushed and doesn't have time to adjust to new surroundings and people they'll struggle to feel safe. I allow warming up time, but if your child is likely to nap on the way or will need a slower adjustment aim to come a little earlier to give them time to feel settled.

Staying with their parents - One of the best things about how my sessions work is that for almost the whole time they're in your arms or holding your hand. I keep pressure down and you keep piling on the love, they're laughing in no time!

Fun! - The key is making the whole shoot something they *want* to do. These sessions are filled with silly games, close time with you and space to be themselves. I never tell children to smile (honestly, I don't think I actually can smile on command so wouldn't ask them to!) so every expression you see is real.

It was the end of a long day of shooting, but ever talented HollyHock Photography still managed to pull this out of the bag! She's captured ME - goofy laughs, messy fringe and always ready to cause a little bit of mischief.
