Almost certainly Wilton's original Anglo-Saxon Church ,from the 9th century. This church was the spiritual home of the nuns at Wilton abbey, one of the most important nunneries in southern England.
In the medieval period.of English history they were said to be 12 churches in Wilton. The site of st. Mary's old church is thought to be the earliest of these. It is built on the highest point of the split of land that runs along West Street
