Almost certainly Wilton's original Anglo-Saxon Church ,from the 9th century. This church was the spiritual home of the nuns at Wilton abbey, one of the most important nunneries in southern England.

In the medieval period.of English history they were said to be 12 churches in Wilton. The site of st. Mary's old church is thought to be the earliest of these. It is built on the highest point of the split of land that runs along West Street

Another interesting and informative trip this time to Ringwood cemetery for the Commonwealth War Graves Commision week.

Both guides were very informative and clearly did their research on those they spoke about, two of which were local lads.

While a rather warm visit, it was interesting and I took the time to have a look around some of the other graves in the area several of which were also linked to past military service.

Saw something a little different on the road today, as we had seen them at the Fighting C***s pub, I guess this is part of a tour around the area benefiting the Royal Navy and Royal Marines charity.

Certainly look like they were having fun, and the jacket potatoes at the pub were great.

After visiting the Sky Garden, I strolled to Waterloo Station, making a few detours to explore local landmarks like the Monument to the Great Fire of London.

My walking tour also included other notable spots, and I was intrigued by a tour guide's claim that the fire is a mandatory part of every English child's education - a fact I don't recall from my own school days, but one that frequently comes up in my work.

I also wandered around the Tower area, searching for remnants of the old Roman wall, which I found in a surprising location within a hotel.

On my way back, I passed by St Dunstan's, rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren after the fire, and St Olave's, one of the few medieval churches to survive.

I finally settled on a small Lebanese restaurant for lunch, avoiding the long queues at Borough Market.
