Excellent detail

Just completed the first epic of 2025 - The Battle of San Domingo, the Destruction of the Imperiale. 36 x 24 inches on canvas.

The painting shows the huge French 120-gun Imperiale totally destroyed by the efforts of HMS Superb, a 74-gun Third Rate, the flagship of Vice Admiral Sir John Thomas Duckworth. Both Imperiale and the French Diomede were eventually driven onto the rocks, where they remained until broken up. HMS Superb remained relatively unscathed. She is depicted delivering the final blows to the dismasted Imperiale while, in the background, HMS Agamemnon is engaging other French ships as she comes to the aid of Superb.

NATIONAL HIGHWAYS – ADVANCE NOTICE

National Highways will resurface works southbound between the Berelands Interchange and the A3M junction near Waterlooville.
There will be entire weekend and overnight closures as follows:
• Full Weekend Closure: 09:00 Friday, 25 October to 06:00 Monday, 28 October
• Overnight Closure: 21:00 – 06:00 Monday, 28 October to Tuesday, 5 November (Monday to Friday working only)
Traffic will be diverted by:
• A272, A32, A27 Porchester
• A3 Purbrook, Waterlooville, Cowplain to join A3M at junction 2
Customers travelling on our Portsmouth-Fishbourne car ferry service are advised to allow more time to reach the port during the resurfacing works.

The works will not affect the Portsmouth-Fishbourne timetable.
