A little inspired by article on Castlefield Viaduct. Castlefield an utterly bonkers place packed full of heritage and modernity jostling for attention. I can’t think of a better adaption. The National Trust haven’t always won my favour in the past, but in this instance I’m entirely on board. (Sorry, couldn’t resist).
“Manchester must confront the inevitable pitfalls of its past development … As architects, our challenge is to help achieve this without compromising the historical soul of the place.”
I’m interested in how the communication of concepts in urbanism and architecture impact on people experience of place and vice versa. It is an intriguing overlap between anthropology, design and media.
Visual storytelling has become our native language, it is persuasive and compelling in its subtleties. Film and photography therefore can play an important role in helping to communicate ideas, feelings and a sense of place that might not exist yet; potentially somehow helping to make it exist?
