Following yesterday’s , we’re turning our attention to the infrastructure behind the maritime industry – and what it takes to protect it, 24 hours a day.

Ports, harbours and coastal sites can be unforgiving environments for surveillance equipment – salt-laden air, driving rain, high winds, temperature extremes and constant exposure.

And there’s another challenge that’s easily overlooked: access.

Cameras are often installed in locations that are difficult or costly to reach. Every unnecessary maintenance visit can mean specialist access equipment, operational disruption and valuable time on site. That makes long-term reliability critical.

At 360 Vision Technology Ltd, we engineer surveillance technology for the environment in which it will actually operate – with a “fit and forget” philosophy designed to minimise ongoing intervention. This is exactly the thinking behind Predator Stainless Steel.

Its robust, anti-corrosive 316L marine-grade stainless steel housing is designed for demanding coastal, offshore and marine applications. A flat viewing window and wiper, with washer option, help keep the view clear in exposed environments.

Add the surveillance capability of our Predator platform – 1080p HD, powerful 40x optical zoom, long-range illumination options and IP68/IK10 ruggedisation – and the objective is simple: install dependable surveillance in difficult locations – and engineer out the reasons you might need to keep going back.

Today, the Red Ensign flies for Merchant Navy Day – in recognition of the service and contribution of the men and women who keep our island nation moving.

From the sacrifices made during wartime to the seafarers moving the goods, fuel and food that power our daily lives today, the Merchant Navy has played - and continues to play - an extraordinary role in keeping the UK connected, supplied and moving.

As a British manufacturer whose UK manufactured technology is deployed across ports, harbours and coastal environments, we’re proud to have a connection to the maritime sector and the infrastructure that supports it.

But today isn't about technology - it's about proudly joining organisations across the UK in recognising our maritime community.

To Merchant Navy personnel, seafarers and port workers – thank you for the contribution you make to keeping the UK moving.

👀 Ever driven past something and thought, “I recognise you…”? 👀

That happened to one of the 360 Vision Technology Ltd team recently when a very familiar silhouette caught his eye whilst out on the road.

Sitting high above a roundabout was a Predator PTZ camera, supplied for a project he'd been involved with more than a decade ago.

Naturally, he had to grab a few photos and a quick video!

We won't be revealing where it is, but this chance encounter is a great reminder that when surveillance equipment is destined to spend its life outdoors – exposed to the elements year after year – ruggedised engineering matters.

Technology evolves and specifications advance. But one thing hasn't changed: our commitment to designing and manufacturing surveillance cameras engineered for demanding real-world environments, right here at our factory in Runcorn, Cheshire, UK.

And sometimes it's rather nice to unexpectedly bump into a little piece of your own history!

Predator: engineered in Great Britain for demanding environments worldwide.

21 August 2026 marks the inaugural National Day for Victims and Survivors of Terrorism in the UK, coinciding with the UN's International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism.

Today is about remembering those whose lives were taken, recognising those who survived, and acknowledging the families and communities who continue to live with the consequences of terrorism.

Speaking on ITV this morning, Figen Murray OBE, whose son Martyn Hett was one of the 22 people killed in the Manchester Arena attack, called for greater security awareness across society.

Figen’s tireless campaigning led to Martyn’s Law, named in memory of her son – legislation that will fundamentally change how qualifying premises and events prepare for the threat of terrorism. It turns awareness into responsibility, and responsibility into action.

Westminster Bridge attack survivor Travis Frain also highlighted an important message: greater awareness isn't about creating fear, but about learning from what has happened and understanding how we can help keep ourselves, our families and our communities safer.

As members of the UK security industry, those are words we should listen to.

Security is ultimately about people.

🕯️ We remember those who were lost.
🕯️ We recognise those who survived.

💛 And we listen, learn and together work towards a safer future. 💛

☀️ Feeling the heat?! ☀️

With temperatures soaring across the UK this week – and tomorrow forecast to be the hottest day of the current heatwave – keeping cool is proving something of a challenge.

Fortunately, our cameras are rather better equipped for extreme conditions than most of us humans are!

360 Vision Technology's IK10 ruggedised Invictus and Predator PTZ cameras are designed to operate in temperatures up to +65°C, helping to deliver reliable surveillance performance even in demanding environments.

And if your surveillance requirements are rather more polar? ☃️Invictus can operate down to -30°C, while Predator goes all the way down to -50°C with the optional heater.

From extreme temperatures to wind, rain, dust, vibration and physical impact, ruggedisation is about engineering surveillance technology for the realities of the environments in which it has to perform.

Designed & manufactured in the UK. Engineered for extremes. Built to last.

👀What happens when a PTZ camera takes a hit? 👀

When a surveillance camera suffers an impact, reliably recovering its position is only part of the story. Understanding what's happening below - and what may have caused the impact - can be just as important.

Two standard features within 360 Vision Technology Ltd's UK designed and built Invictus and Predator PTZ ranges take care of this:

👉 Attack Detect responds to a physical impact and automatically recalibrates the camera to its original position.

👉 Then Base Scan on Impact kicks in: the camera looks down and performs an immediate 360° scan around the base of the pole - helping to provide critical video footage of the situation directly below.

Whether the impact is the result of vandalism, a vehicle collision or another incident, that immediate view of the scene can help control room operators assess what’s happening and determine the appropriate response, including whether emergency services may be required.

Intelligent UK engineering, designed around the realities of real-world surveillance.

Public spaces work best when they work for everyone.

This July, we're marking Disability Pride Month by recognising that inclusive public spaces are a team effort - manufacturers, consultants, integrators, installers and the organisations who commission them all playing their part.

Well-designed surveillance infrastructure plays a key part in this - safer town centres, high streets and transport hubs, for instance, that everyone can move through with confidence, whatever that journey looks and feels like for them.

At 360 Vision Technology, our ruggedised PTZ cameras are perfect for the demanding and variable conditions of real public spaces.

We build in exceptional low light performance and video quality, long-range IR for clear visibility after dark, white light illumination to tackle anti-social behaviour, cellular transmission options for sites where traditional cabling isn't practical and flexible mounting options - giving integrators and installers the tools to build infrastructure that works for everyone, in the spaces that need it most.

360 Vision Technology: British engineering since 2002 - protecting people, property and assets globally.
