Catching up on some editing from a weekend away in the lakes with my wife. We stopped at a very nice place in the village, but not much opportunity for photography.
There are some lovely views across Grasmere, but the roads are so busy at weekends now in the lakes with virtually zero opportunity to park, so I have never really had the opportunity to stop and get the camera out.
I thought I would just try driving up the little road on the opposite side of the lake in the vain of being lucky enough to sn**ch 10 minutes somewhere near the lakeside, but all was looking grim until I found a grass verge, just ok for a quick 5-minute stop and stumbled on this lovely scene with the boats and jetty, like I’d planned it all along.
Photography fix satisfied until next time

A failed attempt to capture one of the fantastic sunset skies we have had this week in Runcorn, I set off way too late again, so I thought I would have a play with light trails on the old bridge.
It’s frustrating that when you do want lots of traffic on the bridge, there is none, and it’s a patient and cold wait for the right moment. You do get traffic and the colours change at the wrong time.
It is an amazing structure and it was nice to capture some different angles.
I did get asked whether I was the police with a speed camera, and then if I was the BBC news, perhaps I should have yes for a laugh.

Another one of those bolt-on photography fixes after a night away with my wife, this time in the lower end of the Lake District.
Thankfully, I had the place to myself. Maybe Kelly Hall Tarn is still one of the rare throwback locations where you can still go and not find it infested with hordes of people.
Perfect for blowing off a few photography cobwebs before a full day in the Peak District next week. Just a tiny little tarn with a couple of lone trees and mossy rocks, what more does a landscape photographer need?
I didn’t have long, so stayed in more or less the same place, a wider landscape shot of the two trees and then a couple of portrait options, either the side of the tree and then converted one to black and white.

Not posted any images on my page for a while, just getting very bored with social media in general, really. It’s always great to get out there and enjoy the photography, producing the images, that is the most important bit and anything after is neither here nor there.

These were taken on a very enjoyable post-Christmas walk around Castell Dinas Bran near Llangollen in North Wales. What a great walk up onto the canal, around the panoramic walk ridge and down, before walking up to the castle and down into the town. Finished off with a pint of Guinness in the pub by the river.

Unusually for me, I left the tripod in the car and went handheld to lose a bit of gear weight for the climbs, getting a bit fat and old now

After the successful 6 week spell for the “Moments through the Lens” Exhibition in Gallery 3 at the Art Centre in Castle Park, a smaller exhibition but more local focused “Bridging Perspectives” is now displayed in the Link corridor.

I do have a thing for bridges, they give all the ingredients I love in an image, shapes, patterns and reflections. This exhibition showcases the 3 crossings of the River Mersey near my hometown of Runcorn.

I did borrow a few from the display at the gallery to exhibit at the River Rise Festival at the Snig but they are back in place now.

I have also made some mounted prints available for sale featuring the images from all 3 galleries. It gives another opportunity to see the images from the previous exhibition.

The exhibition is only on display until the 13th of September, with the gallery opening times 10am till 4pm Tuesday till Saturday

Looking forward to taking my exhibition on the road, starting on Saturday, the 30th of August (tomorrow) at the Snig pub in Widnes. It's an amazing venue for music events with all the 80s music artwork on the walls.

The artwork I will be displaying in the outside space is all taken very local to the event, you can pretty much see the image locations from the venue

The event also raises money for a very worthy cause

Effectively, the last opportunity tomorrow (Saturday, the 2nd of August) to see the "Moments Through the Lens" Exhibition at Castle Park Art Centre in Frodsham as the gallery is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Thanks for all the fantastic responses from everyone who has visited so far, I loved sharing the stories behind the images with you all and hearing your memories of the different locations.
I will be down there again for part of the day so come along and say hello.

Still two weeks of the exhibition to go, had some great feedback from people who have been so far, everybody has really loved it. To see 32 pieces of my artwork printed on aluminium, this size, is pretty amazing and something I am pretty proud of.
The gallery itself is a really nice location as well, live music in the courtyard, the gardens and cafe, what's not to like.

Another opportunity to take advantage of the wonderful sunset skies we have been blessed with recently in Runcorn and a visit to an old favourite location.
I only noticed the sky very late, in fact the sun had already set and in the hurry to get out I forgot to check I had one of the most important pieces of photography equipment with me, my wellies.
This forced a bit of a re-think as it meant I could not get down in the mud around the wreck of the Beadale to get my normal fav shots but sometimes this can be a blessing as you have to work harder to find a new angle.
The remains of an old US Army jeep are on the shore, so I used this for a bit of foreground interest. Apparently, it was originally from the Burtonwood airbase. (Edit Update - apparently it is a Ford Anglia, not a Jeep)
