Over the past two weeks, we’ve been delighted to welcome rehearsals for Ward 76 into Studio 1 at Richard Street Studios.
Written by Sam Jamil and his mother Shirley, the show draws on their firsthand experience of life “growing up” on hospital wards. Ward 76 blends humour, honesty and a hint of the supernatural to tell a powerful and deeply personal story.
It’s been fantastic to see the work develop in our space and to support local creatives bringing new stories to life.
The .breakingbarriers team has had the privilege of collaborating with Sam throughout his journey as an actor, writer and access consultant, and we’re proud to continue championing artists from Rochdale at our versatile studio spaces.
There are just a handful of tickets left for tomorrow evening’s performance at The Edge Theatre, Chorlton before the show heads out on tour to Rochdale high schools, community centres, Town Hall and Manchester Children’s Hospital this Spring.
