with a quick chat, I can understand your goals and answer any questions, I will be able to advise on how best to approach your shoot, and we can find a perfect shoot time for you in my diary (I do run a busy studio, so this is often easier on the phone as my diary changes daily). Five minutes on the phone will help ensure you feel relaxed and fully informed when you arrive at my studio.

I’m getting lots of messages saying this. Is this you too? 🥹

So… I’ve decided to open a limited number of "Final Chapter" Sessions 🥰

These will be relaxed family studio shoots on Saturdays only before the end of July, with just 4 sessions available each Saturday.

To keep things simple, each session includes:

📸 Your studio shoot
🖼 All your carefully edited high-resolution digital images, sent to you to keep forever (approx 40 images!)

After over 10 wonderful years, I’m passing on my fully set-up photography studio at Albert Mill, Milnrow, to the right person...

This is not just an empty room. It’s a genuine walk-in, premium, ready-to-use setup, studio space, client viewing/sales area, lighting, backgrounds, props, furniture, sofas, large viewing TV and editing setup, so someone could pretty much walk in and start using it straight away.

For context, this includes things like an Apple M1 editing setup, 65-inch Panasonic viewing screen, studio lighting, backgrounds, viewing furniture and the practical bits that take years (and a fair amount of money) to gradually piece together.

If you’ve ever fancied running a photography studio, adding studio work to your business, or accelerating your journey without starting from scratch, this could be a rare opportunity.

There’s already been some lovely interest and viewings starting, and to be transparent, I’d realistically be looking at offers north of around £2.5k, depending on exactly what’s included and timing.

I genuinely think for the right person, there’s an opportunity to acquire something for a fraction of what it would cost to recreate! If you know a photographer, content creator or someone who’s always talked about having a studio space, feel free to tag them or share this post. It's a rare opportunity, I'm sure they'd appreciate the "heads-up" 😊

A little thought… 🤔

As many of you now know, the studio chapter of Photography by Karl is coming to an end at the end of July.

Before I hand the keys back, I’m exploring whether there may be an opportunity for someone else to take over what has been built here: studio, equipment, furniture, computers, Display Wall-Arts, everything... and continue it in their own way.

Over the years, I’ve created what I genuinely feel is a lovely studio space, warm, welcoming and ready to go for the right person. It could suit a photographer looking for a ready-made studio base, someone wanting premises without starting from scratch, or somebody already established who wants to expand.

The landlord is open minded, and there may be an opportunity for the right person to take on the space and much of the setup.

At this stage, I’m simply inviting expressions of interest and conversations. If there’s genuine interest from more than one person, I’ll likely look at offers and the best overall fit for the space/setup.

After a huge amount of thought... I’ve decided that Photography by Karl studio will be closing its doors at the end of July.

This has not been an easy decision. The studio has been a massive part of my life for many years, and I’ve photographed thousands of families, babies, couples, weddings and memories that I will genuinely never forget.

To every single person who trusted me to capture a moment in time of your family, thank you ❤️

The kind messages, reviews, recommendations and support over the years have meant far more to me than you’ll ever know! I’ve been incredibly lucky to meet so many wonderful people through my studio in Milnrow, and it has honestly been an honour.

Please don’t worry about me, this is not a sad story 😊
Life is simply moving in a different direction now, and after a lot of soul searching, it feels like the right time.

I’ll still be completing my remaining weddings as planned, and if you’ve always wanted to book a family shoot with me, now is the time. Once July is over, that chapter will quietly come to an end.

Thank you again for the last 15 years. I will carry a lot of pride, gratitude and happy memories from it all! 🥰

This was Janine and Gary’s incredible gothic-style wedding, set against the stunning ruins of St Mary’s Abbey in York. Dramatic skies, ancient stone, and a couple who completely owned the look… it all just comes together so powerfully in this portrait of them...

Sometimes it’s about the location.
Sometimes it’s about the couple.
Here, it was both.

A beautiful, quiet moment from a recent newborn session. 🥰

Those first days with a new baby are full of tiny moments like this, a sleepy cuddle, a gentle smile, everyone completely wrapped up in the newest member of the family. These are the memories that quickly become priceless as the years pass.

Capturing that connection between mum, dad, and baby is what makes newborn photography so special.

Voucher holders… don’t panic 😬

The original 1st April booking deadline for Christmas portrait vouchers has technically passed… but I know how busy life gets, so I’m giving a short amnesty extension until 21st April.
So if you’ve got a voucher tucked in a drawer somewhere, it’s not too late.

This lovely trio came into the studio recently during a big family shoot, and once they started giggling together, the photographs just happened naturally. Moments like this are exactly why families love having portraits taken 🥰

If you’d like photographs like these of your own children, now’s the time to get your session secured.

This photo was taken during a big extended family shoot, but these three, brother, sister, and cousin, completely stole the show for a while. 🥰

They were having an absolute ball together, laughing, messing about, and enjoying every minute. Once kids relax and start having fun, that’s when the best photographs happen, natural expressions, genuine smiles, and moments that feel completely real.

Shauna brought her beautiful newborn back into the studio, and we managed to capture something that doesn’t happen very often in newborn photography.

Those wide, curious eyes open moments. 🥰 🥰 🥰

Most newborns spend the majority of their session fast asleep, which is lovely in its own way, but catching a calm, wide-eyed expression like this is quite rare. It gives the photograph a completely different feel, you can already see the little personality starting to shine through.

A brand new family, completely wrapped up in that little bundle, and the kind of photograph that becomes more meaningful with every passing year. These early days move incredibly quickly, which is why capturing them properly as newborns matters so much!
