So, following my trip up to the stunning Avon Gorge in Bristol yesterday, here are a few shots.
I met up with three members of Avon Images Photography Group, and a great bunch they are too, Gary, Peter, and Mark provided great company, a lot of laughs, coffee, but no cake..!! 😅
Our main target was peregrine falcons, we also spotted a sparrowhawk and a buzzard, chatted to some friendly locals, and spotted some rather interesting characters too...
On the way home, I stopped off at a small lavender farm in Somerset which I've been to before, there was a shocking lack of bees and butterflies there, previously when I've been, there have been literally thousands of buzzing and fluttering insects around me.

The next trip with members of Avon Images Photography Group is a boat trip where we will be on the lookout for osprey fledglings practicing their fishing skills, and hopefully a white tailed eagle or 4, looking forward to that trip very much 😀

Early yesterday morning at home, i opened the curtains which overlook the garden and meadows beyond, there were two pheasants, a couple of small rabbits, a partridge, and an army of house sparrows in the garden, but in the sky was a true amazement, there were at least 40-50 swifts spiralling from left to right, then back again, I haven't seen so many swifts together for many years so this really was quite a spectacle to watch.
The swifts looked like they were catching newly hatched insects on the wing, they hunted over the meadows for well over an hour. Even though there was a light rain falling and a gloomy sky, I just had to grab the camera for a few shots, the shots aren't great, but the sight of so many swifts certainly was 😃

I think this hare has just realised that it's Thursday and not Friday...That's one grumpy looking hare.. 😄

Next weekend I'm heading off somewhere new with a few of the members from Avon Images Photography Group to photograph (hopefully) some of these gorgeous birds, the fastest bird (in a dive) on the planet, the beautiful peregrine falcon...
Can't wait!! And it will be great to catch up with everyone too

Last evening, I had the absolute pleasure of spending an hour with this beautiful barn owl.
Tucked up against a hedge and nettles, I was positioned on the edge of a grassy field which gave me great scope for watching him hunt voles and field mice to take back to the nest box for the hungry chicks inside the barn behind me, and he was very successful hunting too, those shots are yet to be processed.

Theres only one other photographer who visits this farm, he knows who he is. 'He' has been saying that I should get over there, so I waited for a break in the weather, packed my kit, and off I went yesterday evening, and I wasn't disappointed 😁😁

Friday morning bundle of cuteness...

This young rabbit is so used to me being in the same spot, it doesn't worry at all...
As i stand, turn either way, or raise the camera to photograph something, it just sits less than 15 feet from me munching grass, i can even walk up to it, or walk away, and it doesn't move, so its only right that I should take a few shots of this confident little rabbit.
