I arrived at Penmon point, Isle of Anglesey, at 0100 on Thursday night (25-06-2026), passing about 100 cars leaving the area, so I figured I’d missed the bioluminescent show. The point was rammed with cars, campers and people, but there was a great vibe, a calm festival feel…in the darkness.
I sat and watched for a couple of hours, enjoying the calm morning in the unbelievable 29°C warmth. But to the south an electric storm was building, distracting, teasing me…
I relented on the plankton at 0300 and headed West to Holyhead, probably about 30 minutes too late. I watched an amazing spectacle of light as I travelled across Anglesey to my favoured spot and I managed to capture a few strikes as the charged sky hastened its departure to the North and onward to the Irish Sea.
