Wailing Widow Falls
This beautiful waterfall flows out of Loch na Gainmhich, in Assynt.
The rain had made sure that there was plenty of volume to the flow so it was a glorious sight.
I was glad of my wellies!

King of the Hill
I was up a hill, taking pictures of some other hills, when I heard a roaring stag from the hill to my right..... And then I spotted this chap on the ridgeline.
It was rather magnificent, but even with my 100-400mm lens, this is the best I could do. I'm sure I could have tried to get closer, but I think he would have been long gone by the time I did.

Calda House
Built in 1726 by the MacKenzie Clan when they decided the Ardvreck Castle was too cold and draughty. Burnt down by the MacKenzie Clan to stop it falling into the hands of their enemies, the Sutherlands.
I loved the afternoon light falling across the landscape.

Monarch of the landscape.
I spotted a couple of red deer hinds near the road as I was driving, and stopped to get some shots of them. I only spotted this chap after I got out of the van to get a better picture, so lucky!
They didn't seem bothered by my presence at all, I kept my distance, but they were only about 20-30m from me.
It was magic, just bathed in the late afternoon light with the sounds of other stags roaring in the distance. Perfect!

The Fishing Bothy, Loch Stack
I caught the colour at dawn, listening to the nearby stags roaring away. A very atmospheric morning in the highlands.

Clashnessie Falls.
After a fair bit of rainfall, this waterfall was in full force. It's necessary to cross the river via some stepping stones to get up to the waterfall, and most of them were under water. Luckily they were made of nice grippy stone, otherwise it would have been quite dicey with all my camera gear on my back!

Vestey's Beach
This is a little beach just around the corner from Achmelvich Beach, in Assynt. I thought the little house would be a heavenly spot to live, although i expect it gets really busy in the summer months..
The weather was giving me such a variety of moody skies and bright sunshine as I explored around the bay area, which was great for highlighting interesting spots.

I caught this young chap on camera today.
I didn't spot him at first, just the 2 hinds he had with him. They didn't budge when I stopped the van, or even when I got out.
That's when I spotted him looking magnificent against the blue of the sea and the sky.
Just a phone snap until I get home.
