A short story for Fletchers Solicitors that follows Sarah, who was chosen as the recipient of a new prosthetic, fitted by Proactive Prosthetics in Surrey.
My job was to document the initial fitting, the socket was made as a temporary measure for Sarah to test for a few weeks before creating the final product.
1) Portrait of Sarah, sporting her original prosthesis.
2) Alan, the Prosthetist, carefully marking where the new prosthetic will be fitted.
3) Creating the mould using plaster.
4) Shaping the new temporary socket using heated Acrylic.
5) Fitting the Adapter
6) Adjusting and fitting the foot, pylon and socket together.
7) The final photo shows Sarah testing her new prosthesis. The design is meant to be more flexible and fit more comfortably.
