Finding and drawing up the story of a photoshoot or campaign is that first spark that ignites the flame of the whole creative process.

I love the research element - trawling through , books, and magazines. Pulling ideas from different pages together and then interpreting those ideas into a visual story that speaks to its viewers. That is the photographer side of me.

I’ve been a working photographer for over 10 years, but I’ve been a creative all my life. As much as I love finding the story through my lens, I also love to put it down on paper. Words have a way of coming to me- ways to communicate indirectly through stories, poems or even with my essays when still at school. Here’s a fact about me - I studied French at University, but I’m not a natural linguist. I did well but I can tell you that was not from my spoken language abilities! Back at school I discovered I had an ability to uncover and then communicate facts or stories through my writing, and it was through my written work that I achieved my 2:1 diploma and somehow topped my Existentialism in French Literature class 🤪

So when I approach a project, personal or for a client, I don’t just bring my camera. I bring ideas. We develop our ideas together and bring them to life in word and image. Ideas and creative suggestions fill my dreams both day and night, and I arrive at a project with genuine passion to find uniqueness, beauty, connection and thoughtfulness.

This collaborative shoot with felt like it should be based on nostalgic idyll - slow summer days, yes, but more than that ; a connection featured within the imagery that in turn inspires connection with the audience. The chickens were that fun connection. I knew I wanted to include an animal that depicted slow living; and name me a more idyllic morning than one making breakfast scramble from the eggs gathered from your own garden 💕🥚

An image that has always stuck with me is the black and white photograph of the Duchess of Devonshire feeding her chickens while dressed in a beautiful gown - how eccentric and magnificent! And that was the spark for this creative flame …

There’s something incredibly special about my work as a photographer—beyond just capturing images, I feel privileged to witness the beautiful continuity of growth and discovery in the children I photograph. Each time I get to bring my camera into play becomes a chapter in their story, a chance to freeze moments that are raw, genuine, and unfiltered.

Children have this incredible way of being completely themselves, unselfconscious and effortlessly authentic, and I cherish the opportunity to preserve that innocence and curiosity through my lens. It’s a reminder of the pure, unspoiled wonder that often gets lost in the busyness of life.

Watching them grow over the years, seeing those tiny details change, and knowing I played a small part in capturing their evolving personalities—it’s so rewarding. These moments are fleeting, but through my photos, I hope they can be treasured forever. To me, that’s the magic of this craft: being able to witness and preserve life’s most genuine and heartfelt moments.

Choosing a slow approach for me is really about taking a step back and intentionally pausing to appreciate those honest, simple moments that often pass us by in the rush of daily life. It’s about finding beauty in the quiet, in the everyday and embracing those authentic experiences that make life truly meaningful. As a photographer who deeply values slow fashion and mindful living, I see my work as a way to celebrate this intentional approach. I believe there’s something profound in capturing life as it unfolds naturally—whether it’s a serene morning, a candid smile, or the subtle details that often go unnoticed.

When I shoot, I do so with patience and respect for the moment, knowing that true beauty isn’t rushed or forced. It’s about creating images that tell genuine stories, that evoke a sense of calm and authenticity. For me, it’s a reminder that beauty lies in simplicity and that taking the time to notice and honor these honest moments adds depth and richness to our lives. I love sharing these small, intentional glimpses created within the beautiful world I see, hoping they inspire us all to slow down, connect more deeply, and appreciate the slow, beautiful rhythm of life.

It’s the this week and I’m going for the first time. I can’t wait! I’m not particularly green thumbed, but the happiness I think we all get from being surrounded by natural beauty is profound, and I’m expecting to come away feeling very inspired. Anyone looking to shoot something garden themed in the coming weeks, my creativity is predicted to be at an all time high! 🪴🌳📷

When I was just Mummy, but had the deep and compulsive urge to work with my camera again, I raided the dressing up box and we created a Little Prince themed shoot. More from the shoot on my website. Embracing goals has opened doors to incredible creativity and innovation in my photography journey, and I love to bring that same spirit when working on new projects! Recently, I took a leap of faith with a photoshoot that not only challenged my boundaries but also ignited my passion. By teaming up with some amazing chickens—yes, chickens!— we were able to capture moments that are anything but ordinary. This experience taught me that stepping into the unknown can lead to truly unique and beautiful outcomes. For me, it is always about breaking free from the perfectly ordinary and embracing the imperfectly extraordinary.

In this whimsical shoot I styled my fantastic model .alexandra in stunning Sunday dresses, bringing a softness, femininity, and a dreamy aesthetic reminiscent of long English summers.
