⭐️ Introducing the newest member of the Sarah Smith Photography gang ⭐️

Everyone meet beautiful Oscar at only 8 days new 💙

Oscar joined me in the studio yesterday for an epic award winning newborn photography shoot. It really was a dream session, as soon as he came in, he drained a bottle and then went into a lovely sleep. He then posed to perfection for a full set of chilled blanket poses and then a full set of props, including, buckets, beds and boxes. I could have worked with him all day, he was an absolute pleasure.

Mummy and Daddy chose neutrals with pops of browns and sage greens for his whole gallery and I have to say every image is stunning. A real classic selection that will be cherished for more than a lifetime.

Happy Birthday to me 🎉

Today marks a whole decade that Sarah Smith Newborn and Family Photographer in business.

From my first ever paid shoot of Jude (Zoe Beckwith) and Sienna (Claire Bartlett) 10 years ago to my most recent of little baby Sonny! It’s been a journey, a real rollercoaster of all the emotions that you could ever imagine. But ones things for sure, I have loved every minute and have met the most amazing families with the most precious children.

I have been so lucky to work a successful business around the needs and care of my own children. They are now 15 and 12 and have only ever known me as a photographer ❤️ and mum ❤️. What a privilege.

I wonder where the next 10 years will take me 🤷🏼‍♀️

⭐️ Everyone meet Sonny ~ 11 days new ⭐️

One of the most rewarding parts of this job is to welcome back families with their newest additions years after I capture their first babies. It's such a privilege to watch families grow and be a small part of their journey.

I first met Sonny's family nearly three years ago, when I captured his big brother Teddy as a newborn. Teddy came back to the studio with Sonny this week and it was so special to see how much Teddy had grown and witness the bond that they had together. Sonny, just like Teddy was, was a little dream to photograph and his gallery is stunning. The sibling images are incredible, but I am going to save those to surprise Mummy and Daddy with those at their viewing.

Casey and Barry thank you for choosing me as your photographer. I feel so lucky to be able to do what I do. The gift of photography and timeless memories to cherish is truly very heartwarming ❤️

So this week I finally got back into the studio after another period of ill health and how better to celebrate than to work with this absolute beauty!!!

Everyone meet Evie ~ nearly 6 weeks new

It's always daunting when you have another photographers baby in the studio, I guess it's a bit like a kitchen fitter watching another kitchen fitter fit their kitchen for them 😂 but after being friends with Evie's Mummy Clare (who is an awesome Wedding photographer by the way) for 10 years, there is no way I wasn't going to capture their new little bundle of joy.

Evie being an older baby took a little bit longer to settle into a deep sleep, as she was so alert, but with a bit of Sarah magic we managed to create the most perfect set of images.

Clare and Dave thank you for letting me create these wonderful memories for you, congratulations again Evie is a delight ❤️

⭐️ Important notice - Studio Closed until January 2026 ⭐️

Apologies that I have been so quiet. A lot of people have messaged to say that they are missing my beautiful images on their feed ❤️ I am sad to say that it will be a while yet before I am back creating them. I do really appreciate the love though.

3 weeks ago, tomorrow, I had to have hand surgery. The nerves in my hand are pretty damaged and will take a while to recover, so I am unable to use my right hand for much at all at the moment, you should see me try to put my socks on 😂. As a newborn specialist safety is the most important thing and I will not be able to return to work until my nerves have recovered fully and I have the strength back in my hand.

This will mark 4 surgeries in 3 years, a tough time, but I always come back stronger and fitter than ever, so pleased be rest assured that I will not be away for long. I will still be answering my emails and responding to messages, I may just take a little longer than usual. Please bear with me.

For now though I will leave you with this little beauty. I sure am missing my gorgeous little clients! 🥲

Being a new Mummy is hard, those late nights feeds, sore b***s, tired eyes, emotions all over the place, but after a few weeks have past all are soon gone to a distant memory when your baby starts to grow and you get to know each other a little better.

The newborn phase really isn't for long and before you know it the smiles come, the longer naps, the more satisfaction on each feed, the play time and the new parent meet ups start and you are left wondering just how does time pass so quickly.

The only thing that does stand still is the memories. Capturing them in a newborn shoot is perhaps the most rewarding of all. The images that never get old and something to cherish for a lifetime. It's always such an honour to do my job ❤️

Do you ever wonder how you may fit in a newborn session into your new busy schedule, do you ever wish you could capture the most precious thing that you have ever seen, but with all the never ending costs of a newborn you just don't think you could stretch to a full session?

Well here is your answer....

Newborn Mini Sessions!!! No fuss, no frills, just your perfect baby in the most perfect positions to create the most perfect images for the whole family to cherish for eternity.

Sessions are £299 (saving a minimum of £200). This is includes 1-2 hours of studio time and 5 blanket poses, similar to the ones below* Colour schemes are chosen at your request and all relevant insurances are fully covered.

Bookings now being taken for the end of September onwards and can be made via email to [email protected]. Studio in the heart of Rayleigh Essex.

* No multiple births, props, family or sibling images included, due to the increased time involved in studio and during the editing process.
