Some places just keep calling you back.

This was taken on a family day out in Clitheroe, back in the early 2010s. The castle sits watching over the town, quietly holding onto centuries of stories while life carries on below. People relaxing, families gathering, kids running around without a care.

It’s one of those places that never really changes, and that’s exactly why I keep going back. An old market town with a pace that lets you slow down a little and just take it all in.

One of the joys of spending time around animals is their personalities.

I have two cockatiels and they're like little children. Playful, naughty and defiant.

They're obsessed with this clock. I take it off the wall, and they go wherever I put it. Chewing and tugging at the fingers.

They're entertaining, but infinitely destructive.

Sometimes the best images come from the simplest things.

Just wild flowers by the sea, a bit of light, and a quiet moment that won’t happen in quite the same way again. Nothing staged, nothing complicated — just one of those little scenes that makes you stop and notice how much beauty there is in ordinary things.

That’s one of the things I love most about photography. It doesn’t always need something grand. Sometimes a simple moment in time is more than enough.

Taken about 10 years ago at the Grassington Christmas Festival.

My mum and uncle were just waiting in line for a hot drink, but it was the warm shop lights, winter glow, and her smile that made the moment for me. It’s one of those simple little scenes that says everything about a good day out at Christmas — cold air, cosy light, and people quietly enjoying themselves.

Sometimes the best photos aren’t planned at all. They’re just there, waiting for you.

I’ve always loved photographing animals, especially when they give you a look like this.

There’s something brilliant about this owl’s expression — halfway between majestic, curious, and like it’s just heard the best bit of gossip in the countryside. The detail in the eyes, feathers, and claws is what really makes this one for me.

Wildlife always has a way of giving you a moment you could never direct.

One of the things I’ve always loved about photography is how ordinary things can become abstract the moment you look at them differently.

This is just a close-up of bubbles on the surface of a drink — nothing grand, nothing staged — but I love how it starts to look like another world when you get in close enough.

Sometimes the best images aren’t found in big places.
Sometimes they’re sitting right in front of you.

There’s something about a quiet sky at night that makes everything else feel smaller.

Just a line of trees, a scattering of stars, and that soft glow moving through the darkness. No big drama — just the kind of scene that makes you stop for a moment and look up.

Sometimes a photo doesn’t need much explanation.
Just sunflowers, blue sky, and summer doing what summer does best.

What I loved here was the angle — shooting upwards so the flowers felt even taller, brighter, and full of life. There’s something about sunflowers that always feels optimistic. They don’t do subtle. They just turn up and shine.

From time to time, I still shoot a few rolls of film on my Canon AE-1 Program — a lightweight, no-fuss camera from the 1980s that I’ve always loved using.

For black and white, I usually go with Ilford Delta 400. For colour, it’s always Kodak Ektar 100.

That’s part of the magic of film for me. You never fully know if the image has worked until the roll is developed, and because every frame costs money, you naturally become more intentional with what you shoot.

I took this photo of my mum a few years ago in Haworth, photographing an old sign. What caught my eye was that the sign itself was also clearly visible on her phone screen — almost like a picture within a picture. That little extra layer was what made me want to press the shutter.

Haworth is such a lovely place to visit too — full of charm, history, and character. Finishing the day with a great meal at The Fleece Inn rounded it off perfectly.
