One of my favourite things during a couple photo shoot is when a moment happens completely on its own.

We’d wandered over to the beautiful archway beside the Bell Tower at Elmhay Park, taking advantage of the incredible architecture and the soft light spilling through the opening. Then, without any prompting, Toby swept Aimee into a full-on dip and kiss worthy of a Hollywood movie.

No posing. No instructions. Just two people completely caught up in the excitement of being newly married.

I chose to finish this image in classic black and white because it strips everything back to what matters most - the shape of the moment, the emotion, and that timeless sense of romance. The sweeping lines of the archway frame them perfectly, while Aimee’s dress trails across the gravel like something from a vintage film set. 💘

Sometimes the best photographs aren’t created. They’re simply noticed.🫶

Golden hour at Orchardleigh. ✨

There’s a point during every wedding day where everything slows down for a few minutes.

The speeches are over. The nerves have disappeared. The timeline relaxes. And for the first time all day, the couple get a chance to simply be together.

As the evening sun dropped across the Orchardleigh Estate, I stole Aimee and Toby away for a wander around the grounds. The light was absolutely beautiful, bathing Orchardleigh House and the Orangery in that soft golden glow that photographers dream about.

I spotted these steps and knew they would frame the scene perfectly. No complicated posing, no awkward instructions. Just the two of them tucked together, enjoying a quiet moment in the middle of what had been an incredible day.

One of my favourite things about photographing weddings at Orchardleigh is how effortlessly cinematic it feels. Every corner of the estate offers another beautiful backdrop, but the magic always comes from the people standing in front of it.

And with the house glowing behind them and the last warmth of the day wrapping around the scene, this felt like the perfect ending to a perfect summer wedding.

I’m known far more for photographing people, moments, emotions and stories than I am for photographing shoes and jewellery. But every now and then a wedding morning presents a little gift of its own.

At Elmhay Park on the Orchardleigh Estate, Somerset, Aimee was getting ready in the beautiful Castle West Gatehouse while the temperature outside climbed to a very un-English 33°C. The sunshine pouring through the old leaded windows created these incredible geometric shadows across the windowsill, and I knew instantly I wanted to use them.

So before the dress went on and before the celebrations really began, I borrowed a few of the things that mattered most. Her wedding shoes, Tiffany jewellery, engagement ring, Van Cleef & Arpels perfume, a heartfelt handwritten speech from one of her bridesmaids, and yes… the bridal lingerie too. The result feels less like a traditional wedding flat lay and more like a still life from a fashion editorial.

For a little variety, I gathered everything up and moved outside onto the cobbled drive of the Gatehouse, creating a second look that felt completely different while still telling the same story of the morning.

The details might seem small, but years from now they’ll transport Aimee straight back to those quiet moments before she walked through the Italian Gardens to marry Toby.

Weddings can be wonderfully chaotic. There are hugs, speeches, music, laughter, unexpected moments and about a thousand people wanting a minute of the couple’s time.

Then every so often, everything slows down.

As the evening light softened across the beautiful Italian gardens at the , Oliver and Shannon found a quiet moment together. No audience. No schedule. Just the two of them taking in the fact that after months of planning, they were finally married.

These are often my favourite photographs of the day. Not because they’re dramatic, but because they’re real.

A small pause in the middle of a very beautiful whirlwind.

I have photographed weddings for nearly two decades, and every now and then a dress and veil combination comes along that makes my heart skip a beat! 🫶

Shannon absolutely nailed it.

Inside the former convent, surrounded by centuries of history, she gave her veil the most incredible sweep and suddenly the whole room came alive. The lace caught the light beautifully and created this almost theatrical moment that felt like something from a fashion editorial. (A big thank you to .giannone 🫶).

The best part? It wasn’t overly serious. Shannon spent most of the day smiling, laughing and fully embracing every second of her beautiful wedding. Elegant, joyful and effortlessly cool!

Golden Hour love at Abbazia di Santo Spirito! ☀️ 🇮🇹 💘

Italian sunshine, a beautiful ancient abbey, and two people completely wrapped up in each other!

As the day drifted towards evening, we stole Shannon and Oliver away for ten minutes of golden light in the gardens of the stunning Abbazia di Santo Spirito in Northern Italy. No complicated posing, no pressure, just a chance for them to slow down and soak it all in.

One of my favourite things about destination weddings is how they naturally unfold. Family gathered from different countries, incredible food (check out my dessert post!), dancing, live music floating across the gardens, and a celebration that feels more like the world’s best garden party than a formal wedding.

This moment felt exactly like that. Pure joy. Pure sunshine. Pure Italy. 🇮🇹

I’m currently in northern Italy photographing a beautiful Wedding, but as I had to miss some of my dance classes this week before getting on a plane (dance is my other ‘thing’), I took the opportunity to head out at sunset to stretch and breathe… and a quick port de bras, obvs! 🕺😎🧡 Photo: .storytelling.uk
