We are fast approaching that time of the year where we can get some great cloud inversions and low mists. They normally appear after warm days and colder nights which typically happen from September to November. I also think it may be earlier this year with the amount of dead leaves on the ground I can see although this has been an unusual year. Fingers crossed for some dramatic conditions. Perhaps it's me but I've always thought capturing 'wild' life in the Lake District is quite hard. You never seem to be there at the right time or you hear 'you should have been here 10 minutes ago' !! But looking back over the last few years I don't think I've done too bad. Hope you enjoy looking at a few of them when it would appear I was there at the right time for once. Feel free to share.

There are many iconic benches in the Lake District but this one has got to be close to the top. You just can't resist parking your backside on the bench and soaking up this fabulous view down to the Jaws of Borrowdale and on to Castle Crag. I've been told that this is a popular spot for proposals of marriage and I can certainly see why. Feel free to share.

I have photographed Rydal Water in all seasons but the summer colour there at the moment is quite beautiful. All the wild flowers are blooming with various shades of purple and yellow including some on the small island which hosts this delightful tree. Feel free to share.

This is Sharp Edge below Foule Crag Blencathra. Some people love it, some people hate it but which ever camp you are in it's a walk and scramble that needs your respect. A great Wainwright but best done in good weather and for those who have a head for heights. Feel free to share.

I love climbing Yewbarrow - it's steep but you get it over with quite quickly which is a good thing when you are getting older !!. But I must admit the views from the summit are superb in all directions. From Great Gable to the Scafells and then over Wastwater to the coast. Gird up your loins and try it for yourself - you won't be disappointed. Feel free to share.

I think Helvellyn was voted as Britains favourite walk a few years ago. Looking from close to the summit you can see why as the views over Catstycam and Striding Edge are second to none. We really are lucky having this beautiful National Park that is accessible for everyone. Feel free to share.

One of the best hikes you can do in the Lake District. Helm Crag or as it's affectionately known The Lion and The Lamb can be done quite easily from Grasmere and is a walk for all the family. Not sure if everyone wants to climb the rock pinnacle but I know lots of people do - however watching some people come down can be quite amusing as its's never as easy coming down as it is going up!! Feel free to share.

Just spent a few days with my daughter and her partner trying to photograph the Otters on Mull. Stopped off at a few places on the way - Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Kilchurn Castle, Castle Stalker and Glen Orchy. Saw the White Tailed Eagles but no photographs this time - just makes you want to go again as it's such a beautiful island. Feel free to share.
