I am Jonathon Yates, I am a multifaceted photographer based in the North West of England. Specialising in portraiture, I am available for weddings, events, and portrait sessions. Although formal work is certainly in my repertoire, candid work is my true passion, and I strive to capture those fleeting moments in which people expose themselves freely.

Sorry it has been quiet on here lately. I've got a new project on Instagram () that I'm not at ease with sharing over facebook. By way of apology, here is a photo of my boy, Bryn. Here he is, windswept on the cliffs of Silverdale, while patiently waiting for his toy to be thrown.

Apologies for the lack of activity over the last few weeks. It has been, interesting, but I've decided to renew an old project. More info over the coming days.

For today I'll settle with a little reminiscing. This is one of my favourite places in Britain; Trebarwith Strand, Cornwall. The changes between high and low tide are dramatic to say the least. This is high tide (obviously), at low tide it's a superb surfing beach. Plus, there's a pub on the cliffs that overlooks it – win bloody win! Can't wait to go back (hopefully this year).

I love Cornwall

As you all know, yesterday was . I, lucky fella I am, had a date lined up; me and seven courses made by the guys at We Don't Give a Fork at Ham and Jam Coffee Shop.
I'm thrilled to say that they liked my images from last Friday so much that I was invited back to take photos for their Valentines night. Naturally, I cancelled all of the dates I had lined up for this job..., ho ho ho. At least I make myself laugh ( ).

This time I also had the pleasure of eating the dishes after taking the photos, and let me tell you, even at sub-ideal temperatures (I was working in a cold room and taking photos takes time) the food was phenomenal! I'm a fussy eater and would never normally eat fish, cauliflower, mushroom, or blue cheese, but I devoured every single dish and would gladly do so again!

What you see here is the first of the seven courses, the selection of canapés; fillet steak and horseradish, prawn cocktail, and the pork and Stilton parcel.

I honestly can't recommend getting yourself a table enough. They've still got two more weekends left, so, if you're free, I implore you to book yourselves a table. See http://www.prestonpopup.co.uk from more details and check out their menus.

Thanks again to the whole team!

Here's a quick panorama from the Sunday spent in Malham the weekend before last. I say quick, I'm normally alright with editing out dust spots, but doing that with seventeen images worth of dust spots has left me thinking it's probably time I send my camera in for a professional clean and service.

If you see any dust spots keep your mouth shut! (But seriously, let me know)

My boy, Bryn. He's played in snow before, but this is the first time he's seen it fall. I managed, by some miracle, to catch him looking almost contemplative; shortly after this he was rolling around like a loon.

I got a little silly; it's flattering, I know. This is what happens when I get frustrated with a shoot because of the bloody wind. And no, I didn't bother ironing my shirt. I've got many more ideas of this ilk, is it time to stop?

Just a quick one from today's walk from the floof that is Mabel; doesn't she look majestic! If only I could've taken her collar off. Unfortunately she spends a lot of time in her own world and has a tendency to wander off. This wouldn't be an issue, but the park is basically a bog at the moment and I think I'd end up on my face trying to catch up with her.

I'm hoping this is a slightly new take on a very old concept. Today's weather has been capricious, and I thought I'd take advantage of a break in the weather, which was cut short by more rain. So, I will be revisiting this soon in fairer conditions. Hopefully next time will be a little less frustrating; the wind kept blowing over one of my flash units (hence the annoying shadow over my left eye), also, my remote wouldn't reach my camera (I deserve it for buying cheap), so I only had 10 seconds from pressing the shutter to run through the boggy field to pose. Plus, I'm a terrible model. And I need a hair cut... and a shave. Regardless, I thought some of you might enjoy something a little different from me.

Meet Oscar, another of my Mum's clients. The first time taking him out he was very nervous and obviously cautious of strangers. After a few walks he's starting to really come out of his shell and showing us his inner teddy bear.

This is Millie, one of a pair of belonging to one of my Mum's clients. They are both absolute sweethearts; gentle, obedient, and incredibly cute. This is how Millie tells you she wants you to throw her ball.
