🌧️ WELCOME TO SUNNY LYNMOUTH ☀️

Where the weather forecast is less of a forecast and more of a personal attack. 😂

One minute you’re walking around in glorious sunshine, admiring the scenery…

🌧️ BANG horizontal rain.

So naturally, we did what any sensible tourist would do… took shelter under the Bath Hotel and waited for Devon to remember what season it was. 🤣

Beautiful place though… even when the weather is having a complete meltdown! 🌦️😂

Lynmouth: come for the views, stay because you can’t find a dry window. 😂📸

💦⚡ Lynmouth Hydro Victorian engineering at its best!

Built in the 1890s, Lynmouth had one of the world’s earliest pumped-storage hydroelectric systems.

When electricity demand was low, water from the East Lyn River was pumped around 790 ft up the hill into a reservoir. When it was full, the overflow shot into the air the fountain I photographed was basically a “reservoir full” indicator!

🌙 Then, when electricity demand increased in the evening, the stored water was released back down the hill. The huge drop created enough pressure to drive a turbine and generator, producing electricity for Lynton and Lynmouth.

So essentially:

🌊 River → 💧 Pump → ⛰️ Reservoir → 💦 790 ft drop → ⚙️ Turbine → ⚡ Electricity

All of this was happening over 130 years ago — pretty incredible Victorian engineering! 🤯

A moment in time 🌅🌑

Captured this solar eclipse sequence over Bosham, West Sussex, as the Moon gradually moved across the Sun.

The eclipse tracing its way across the evening sky above the village, with the church and rooftops silhouetted below a pretty special view to capture. 📸

One of those shots that was absolutely worth waiting for.

🌌 A night under the Milky Way ✨

One of those shots where everything just came together the Milky Way stretching across the sky, mist rolling through the foreground, and a meteor streaking down through the stars. ☄️

Shot in the New Forest with my Nikon D300 + Tokina 11–16mm f/2.8.

Still learning, still experimenting, but nights like this make it all worth it. 📸🌌

King of the shade. 🐅🌿

One of my favourite shots from my visit to Longleat. Watching this incredible tiger relax in the shade was a reminder that wildlife photography is all about patience and timing. Moments like this make carrying the camera around all day worth it.

🌌 2.5 million years in the making✨

My first ever deep sky astrophotography attempt and I couldn’t have picked a better target than the incredible Andromeda Galaxy M31. 🌠

A whole galaxy of billions of stars, captured from my own setup and sitting 2.5 million light years away from Earth.

Shot with a Nikon D300 and Sigma 300mm lens. No expensive observatory, just patience, learning, and nearly 2 hours collecting tiny pieces of light that have travelled across the universe for millions of years.

For a first step into deep space photography, I’m absolutely amazed at what this old camera can capture. There’s still plenty to learn, but this has definitely started a new obsession. 🚀
