Something from the archives shot on a very entry level camera.

It's amazing how much can change in eight years. I might consider this too soft in focus or overly edited now, but always lovely to look back on achievements and personal growth.

A reminder we are always learning and evolving.

Astrophotographer Stefano Pollina sent in a long exposure of Jupiter looming over Southsea Castle, Southsea, England, United Kingdom, taken on Jan. 19, 2015. Orion constellation also shines at right. The castle dates from 1544, constructed by Henry VIII as part of a series of fortifications around England’s coasts protecting from invaders.

Correction: This post was edited to correct the planet visible in the sky. It is Jupiter, not Venus. Thanks to those of you who pointed out our error.

Star trails and the Devils Den in Wiltshire.
You usually point the camera towards the star Polaris to get the circular style of star trails but for this one I decided to shoot the other direction to get this sliding effect

Forgotten Shores.

I live in a lovely city by the sea and, until recently there were a myriad of beautiful eroded and weathered rocks along some arears of the seafront and when the tide was out they made really nice foreground subjects for long exposure night photography.

These stones are now replaced by new sea defences being put in place along the shoreline.

Hopefully once the new sea defences are finished, there will be some lovely new and interesting vantage points for shooting from.

I genuinely don't think I will ever tire of watching the moon rising above the horizon over the ocean where I live, and, when it is high enough in the sky, witnessing the emergence of the majestic reflections it casts over the waters, are always so mesmerisingly transcendental.
We have some energetically uplifting full moon gatherings on the seafront too, celebrating the full moon phase and they are often followed by a moonlit dip in the sea, which enrich the soul.

Never ceases to Inspire and amaze
