Did anyone else notice black smoke billowing over Weymouth Bay earlier today?

At first I thought it might have been coming from the Smyrtos oil tanker. When I turned the car around for another look, the smoke was further along.

Goldfinches, common redshanks, and I even managed to get a snap of a swallow!! This is a nearly impossible task as they dart and dive all over the place! This was probably one lucky shot out of about 50 snaps 😅

Sea Cadets Training Ship “Royalist” passing the Bill, making her way into Portland Port after sailing from Salcombe. ⛵️

Built in 2015, the 32-metre brig is the flagship of the Marine Society & Sea Cadets and carries up to 24 young cadets on offshore training voyages. She was designed to give young people hands-on experience of sailing, seamanship, teamwork and leadership. 🌊
