Just the pick me up I needed !

This month's Black and white photography magazine just arrived and I have my second feature within the pages . I was very proud when I received the email back around November time requesting a contribution.

The last 6 weeks have been tough going at times while I recover from knee surgery. I have been forced to leave the camera alone and focus on my darkroom printing

You should see the pile of prints I have awaiting toning , pressing and re touching ! I just keep printing more and putting off the final stages

I took this on 16 th December. It's sat there beckoning me , bugging me ever since so I finally developed it yesterday

Truthfully although I feel it's a well executed photo worthy of sharing it's not really my kind of thing ?

I think this is one of my favourite darkroom prints to date taken with large format camera . I've been waiting to do this one for a long time . It just needs a tone in selenium to increase the contrast a tad and make it archival

Print is 20x16 inches so rather grand size

As you might expect I'm beyond skint right now having had 3 months off and won't be fit for a couple more months looking at my knee

It will be a limited edition of 25 , some
On my website and hopefully some to a gallery I've had chats recently , minimum £250-350

It would be great to get a few pre orders before I begin the initial print run

This hurts my pride but I get great pleasure from seeing my work on a friend's walls

I will only produce 5 at this price

This is my rehab

14x14 inch on 200 gsm fibre paper

If anyone wants to buy one £100 delivered ( all my others this size have been £200-250 to date ) interestingly these " premium prints " out sell the budget ones . That I didn't expect

Then I can afford some more paper !

I've only done 1 keeper but the neg is still in the enlarger for tomorrow . It's nice when I print to pre orders

I just awoke to some lovely news .

My Storm Babet 20x16 darkroom print was overall Gold winner at the Royal Photographic Analogue Exhibition in Oxfordshire this weekend !

I understand this was the biggest to date with 88 entries sent from various countries

Given where I am right now living on crutches post surgery that's just the kind of pick me up I needed ! It makes me want to get out there and take more photographs but alas that's quite some way off right now !

I am doing my best to use this recovery time to update my website and the online store

I'm really pleased with the range of ready to hang , framed darkroom prints at a very affordable price . £75 !! My large fibre prints are not as affordable and I get that . I love shipping my work to people and knowing they have dedicated a space on the wall

I was gifted a big box of ilford resin coated pearl paper which really helps , these 7x7 inch prints look great in the square 12x12 black aluminium frames
