Junction 4 Skatepark, based in Darwen, will host ‘Tech Battle Royale’ and ‘Front Brake Revolution’ on Saturday 2nd May 2026, bringing the energy of a forgotten era back to the park for a day celebrating technical BMX riding.
Originally launched in 2004 by Ben Foakes, Front Brake Revolution (FBR) was among the first events and video series to properly spotlight front brake riding and the precision-led approach that shaped the early tech scene.
FBR Founder, Ben Foakes said “I am so excited to see this coming back to life, and the amazing riders (new and old) who are already contributing tricks online, and committing to attend the event. I grew up watching early Props and Baco films, and my riding idols were the likes of Degroot, DMC, Friemuth, Osato, and of course the biggest Legend of them all, Standard’s Rick Moliterno. I can’t wait to be there on the weekend and witness the tech battle royale!”.
The following year saw a memorable trip to Davenport, Iowa to mark the closure of Rampage Skatepark, a venue widely regarded as a spiritual home for this style of riding.
Now, more than two decades on, Junction 4 is set to help showcase the discipline again, connecting that legacy with the next wave of progression.
Mike O’Connell, founding member of FBR, said: “The original event in 2004 was the first of its kind to really showcase the art of front brake riding, I am stoked to hear that Junction 4 Skatepark is bringing it back and putting on an event later this year. It’ll be something you won’t want to
miss!”
