Most people think orchids are limited to house plants or those in exotic green houses.

However there are over 50 species of orchid in the UK!

Did you know orchid flowers are upside down? 🙃 (Except for a few).

Many orchids are really rare and are found on habitats that have not been destroyed by artificial fertilisers. If you see an orchid, enjoy it's beauty but don't pick it.

Such a privilege to lead this wonderful group yesterday.

Thank you to everyone for getting stuck in capturing the world in macro. Great to see the insects out and about in the sunshine including a 14 spot ladybird and large red damselfly.

As well as showcasing nature, my passion is reconnecting people with wild places through creativity and adventure to promote their protection. 🌿

I offer 1-2-1 tuition and group workshops and have some exciting sessions in the planning process!

Let me change your perspective on spiders ➡️

Incredibly camouflaged, this crab spider changes its colour to match the colour of the flower so it can ambush incoming prey. Some can even reflect UV light to attract pollinators.

The name comes from their crab-like appearance, particularly when their front legs which are held upwards.

The diversity of spiders alone is fascinating, coming in all different shapes and sizes, perfectly adapted for their individual feeding strategies. In ecology, predators like spiders provide balance to food webs and also can act as pest control in gardens.

So next time you see a spider, take a closer look. Wonder at these tiny creatures and appreciate the part they play in the world.
