For a couple of weeks early in the Covid lockdown, my local garden centre were selling off plants on an honesty box stand for anyone passing on an essential journey - I took advantage with 6 ranunculus plants, and after re-potting at home, have managed to cut a few of the flowers for photographing.
(Posted again as it didn't work how I wanted it to yesterday.. Apologies if you see it twice!)

I've not posted anything on here for ages, the main reason being that I lost a lot of enthusiasm for my own work for a while. I find it hard not to look at other peoples images and compare mine unfavourably. Self-doubt is certainly a killer of creativity. So here I am, dusting off my doubts and giving it another go :)

How gorgeous is this plant! 😍 I have no idea what it is, I found it growing in some scrub land near home and shot through some nearby leaves to add the lovely soft pink haze.

I didn't get to any particularly scenic firework display this year (no castles or water sadly!), but did go to the one in my local park (along with around 10,000 other attendees) organised by Pontypool Round Table. A great display and a well organised night 🙂

As much as I don't particularly like wasps, it was really fascinating watching this one wake up and eventually fly away ...

As much as I don't particularly like wasps, it was really fascinating watching this one wake up and eventually fly away after being disturbed from the dark crevice it had hidden itself away in.
I didn't know until recently that only queen wasps hibernate during winter and that the majority of them don't actually make it to Spring.

The second half of my fabulous day out in Vancouver with Danielle Cooper Photography (and my mum Brenda Pangli) took us to VanDusen Botanical Gardens and wow, what a stunning place to visit. I think I was slightly overwhelmed by the beauty of the place and didn't come away with quite the number of photos I usually would, although that should've made my job of 'culling' a bit easier - but if anything, I think it made it harder to agree with myself over the ones I most liked!
