🤍 “Sorry, I haven’t brushed my hair.”

🤍 “Sorry, my toddler isn’t cooperating.”

🤍 “Sorry, the baby won’t sleep.”

🤍 “Sorry, I look exhausted.”

Firstly…

You’ve just had a baby.

Of course you’re tired.

Of course life feels a little chaotic.

Of course your toddler has suddenly decided today is the perfect day to test every boundary known to mankind. 😅

Please know that when you walk through my studio door, I expect real life.

Not perfection.

I know.

It’s only June. 🎅🏻😂

But hear me out…

Every year I say I’m going to wait until later to start thinking about Christmas.

And every year I fail spectacularly.

The planning of the set has officially begun behind the scenes for this year’s Santa Experience and I’m SO excited.

There will be magic.
There will be Christmas memories.
There will almost certainly be fake snow in places it shouldn’t be.

And yes…

Santa will be returning. ❤️

The best part of a cake smash isn’t actually the cake. 🧁

It’s watching their little personalities shine through.

Some babies dive straight in.

Some carefully inspect every crumb.

Some spend 20 minutes refusing to touch it.

And some decide the props are far more exciting than the cake itself. 😂

That’s what I love most.

No two cake smashes are ever the same.

Every single one-year-old brings something completely different and that’s what makes them so much fun to photograph.

The mess can be cleaned up.

The memories last forever. 🤍

Balancing photography with family life. 🤍

One thing people don’t always see behind a photography business is how much family life exists around it.

Most of my work happens around:
• school runs
• appointments
• birthdays
• housework
• family life
• and the general chaos of motherhood 😂

There are days where I go from soothing a newborn in the studio straight into mum mode 10 minutes later 😅

But honestly, building a business around my family has also been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.

It may not always look perfectly polished behind the scenes, but it’s real and I think that’s something a lot of parents can connect with.

This is one of the biggest myths I hear.

Whilst the first 1-3 weeks are ideal, I’ve photographed babies much older and still created beautiful galleries.

Pregnancy can be beautiful.

It can also be exhausting, uncomfortable and leave you feeling unlike yourself.

Most mums who walk into my studio tell me:
🤍 They’re tired
🤍 They feel swollen
🤍 They don’t feel photogenic
🤍 They almost didn’t book

And every single one leaves saying they’re so glad they did.

Your maternity session isn’t about looking perfect.

It’s about remembering this chapter.

Your baby’s safety will always come before the photograph.

Every single time.

As a newborn photographer, some of the most important parts of my job happen behind the scenes:

🤍 Supporting baby correctly
🤍 Following baby’s comfort cues
🤍 Allowing extra feeding and cuddling time
🤍 Never forcing poses
🤍 Creating a warm, calm environment
🤍 Working at baby’s pace

Beautiful photographs are important.

But a happy, comfortable and safe baby will always be my number one priority.
