“We were never meant to be quiet.”
For this year’s International Women’s Day, I created a visual project using women’s bodies as letters to spell out this message – a reminder that our bodies, our voices, and our presence were never meant to be hidden, shamed, or silenced.
The official message from the United Nations for International Women's Day 2026 is “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.” It’s a call not just to celebrate women, but to keep pushing for a world where women and girls everywhere have equal rights, safety, and opportunities. Women globally still hold only about 64% of the legal rights men have, so the work is far from finished.
This project is my small contribution to that conversation – using the female body not as something to judge or hide, but as something powerful enough to spell out resistance.
Huge thank you to the incredible women who helped bring this idea to life, especially Cherry Dance and Bizzybirds, whose creativity, support and energy made this possible.
Today, and every day:
Take up space.
Use your voice.
Be seen.
