Sass Tetzlaff is a metaphysical practitioner accredited in energy alignment, EFT (tapping), somatic healing (body awareness), Akashic record reading (the Book of Your Soul), and more. She co-created , which teaches you how to realign your own energy to improve your life across all areas.

Sass has plenty of experience being photographed, and before the first Headshot Day at The Mile, she said:
“Heads up. I don’t want pictures that look like an older version of my school photos. (I did mention this when we spoke.) I’ve already got loads of those. That’s just not me or who my clients are looking for. I’m not in the corporate place, so I can please myself and express more of my personality. I’ve done many headshots and know what I’m looking for. I want more animation and will be bringing ‘props’!!! Question is… are YOU ready???”

This is a common objection you might have too when you hear the word ‘headshot’ and immediately think it’s not for you. I’m always up for the challenge of proving that headshots can look really different. Just look at these photos of Sass that she and I co-created in just 25 minutes. Do they look like the corporate headshots you imagined?

The backdrop, the outfit, the makeup, the poses, the facial expressions, the props – all help tell the story Sass wanted to tell. This is what she shared about the experience:
“I had so much fun. I can highly recommend this service. The photos I had done in January were amazing and very well received.”

Tomorrow afternoon, I’m co-hosting a second headshot and portrait day at with . It’s the last call! We’ve got a couple of slots left. Prices start from £55. You can get your makeup done by Kate and receive professional styling advice from Charlotte .

There are three backdrops: white, black, and natural (the Yorkshire Wolds on our doorstep). You’ll get 3 edited photos. Bring your props – we’ll help you create headshots that tell your story.

Cher Casey , a home organiser and decluttering expert based in York, is a client I worked with last June. Her article, along with some of the photos we created together, was featured in the May issue of Yorkshire Life magazine.

If you’re looking for a bit of inspiration, have a read through this short interview where Cher shares what it means to be featured in Yorkshire Life, the message she hoped to get across, how she’s been using her photos, and the kind of opportunities and growth she’s seen since our branding shoot.

Jo Randall is a certified health coach who helps busy professionals reclaim their health and vitality, preventing burnout and chronic conditions. But despite her confidence in coaching others, the idea of stepping in front of a camera? Terrifying.

She joined the very first Headshot Day at The Mile, Pocklington on 14th January, needing a couple of portraits for her social media. She had never had professional photos taken before, and like many people, she hated being photographed.

To take the pressure off, I guided her through simple techniques that helped shift her focus away from the camera:

• Tilting her head from side to side

• Turning 90 degrees to the count of three

• Imagining herself in a photo booth doing multiple takes

I also showed her previews throughout the shoot so she could see what we were capturing and share her thoughts.

And it worked.

The day after the event, when it was time to share her email for the proofing gallery, she told me: “Thank you for being patient with me! You were very good at making me relaxed.”

A few days later, she received her final edited images and said: “You have done wonders with the raw material! I have already updated my social media photos.”

Can you tell that Jo had never been professionally photographed before? That she hated being in front of the camera?

If you relate to Jo’s story, I hope this gives you some reassurance—you can look amazing in your photos, and you can even enjoy the process.

Starting small with short photo sessions is a great way to ease in. You don’t need to be on camera for hours, and you get to try working with a photographer before committing to their more comprehensive sessions.

Just a few days ago, Jo commented on one of my posts about the next Headshot & Portrait Day at The Mile, Pocklington that will take place on 16th May: “As someone who totally hates being photographed, I really recommend...”

Hi, I’m Anna Miree, a branding photographer and content creator based in Pocklington, York.

I help Yorkshire business owners—whether you offer services, products, courses, memberships, or experiences—create visuals that deeply resonate with your target audience and inspire action.

Photography has been a passion of mine since high school, alongside other creative pursuits like singing, playing rock music on my electric guitar, and Ballroom and Latin dancing.

What began as fun outdoor shoots with friends grew into a fascination with fashion photography, inspired by the storytelling of Grazia editorials. This passion led me to train in studio lighting and launch my portrait photography business.

Though I enjoyed it, I wasn’t sure where it was leading, so I switched to teaching kids and teens one-on-one, drawing on my degree in linguistics and lifelong interest in the English language.

In my early 30s, I moved to England to be with my husband. This change sparked a journey of personal discovery and brought me back to photography over a decade later—with a new perspective.

Having been self-employed for most of my life, I understand the dedication it takes to build something from the ground up. That’s why I’m passionate about using photography and video to highlight what makes your business unique and contribute to its growth.

Thanks to my background, I’ve developed the ability to listen, observe, and analyse the input, expressing exactly what needs to be said. I guide you in a way that ensures every session reflects who you are and where you’re headed, in a positive and supportive way.

You’ll feel comfortable and understood, and walk away with visuals that truly represent your vision—making your audience say, “I need this in my life.”

When I’m not behind the camera, I’m enjoying a cup of tea and a treat, lost in a book on my e-reader, watching a period, romantic, or fantasy series, or exploring parks, gardens, castles, and historic towns with my husband—always with a cosy café stop included!

What’s your passion, and do we have anything in common?

Amanda Longstaff is the therapist behind Wellbeing at Heart, based in Pocklington, offering treatments like energy healing, massage, crystal therapy, and sound baths.

When Amanda reached out for a branding session, she had 2 main reasons:

• Her business was evolving—she was shifting towards group work and training to become a soul midwife. She wanted her photos to reflect this.

• After years of staying behind the scenes, she wanted to step into the spotlight, show the face behind her business, and build trust. This was her first-ever photo session, and it took courage.

Her goals for the session were:

• Showcase her services and provide a clear picture of what she offers.
• Capture a warm, nurturing, approachable vibe.
• Maintain brand consistency with dark green and pink/purple accents.

We carefully planned the shot list, wardrobe, props, and chose Allerthorpe Village Hall, where Amanda runs her sound baths, as the setting. She brought props like crystals, oracle cards, and drums to bring her work to life.

What I captured:

• Relaxed headshots with soft lighting and natural backgrounds.
• Photos of Amanda leading a sound bath and using her props.
• A reiki session with a client.
• A heartfelt moment with a client, featuring candles and a decoration that read: “Wherever you go, may your guardian angel watch over you.”

The result?

A tailored set of images that authentically represent Amanda’s work, helping her audience understand what she does, how, and why they can trust her. With these images, her website, social media, marketing materials, and event promotions are all set.
