Here is what lies ahead in January

6th January – Marko Dutka returns to give us a talk on low light and night photography, showing us his own images and hopefully inspiring us ready for the final PDI competition at the end of February which has that very theme.
Tonight is also the closing date for the next PDI competition, as usual 2 themes, Autumn and Triptych/Panel. Send your entries to the usual email address by midnight.

13th January - Show and Tell, bring up to 3 images on the theme of Macro / Still Life.
Tonight is the closing date for Trophy 3, Landscape print and Wildlife DPI.

20th January – PDI 3, Autumn and Triptych/Panel

27th January – Our next Learning Zone.

We are also still looking for images to include in the club entry to the WCPF InterClub Digital Competition. If you have any images that you would like to be considered please send them to the usual digital entry email address by Friday 9th January. The images do not need to have been seen in club competitions.

Be part of the story this Dickensian Evening and light up the town with us at the annual Lantern Parade.
πŸŒŸπŸŽ„πŸŒŸ
We’re rolling out hands-on willow-lantern workshops at Tavistock Library, delivered by West Devon Art Workshops, designed to help you craft your own show-stopping lantern. Build it in the workshop, then bring it back for the parade on December 5th at 5pm to help create a truly standout moment for the community.

Capacity is capped at 20 makers per session, so early booking is essential. Adults accompanying children do not need a ticket. Tickets are reserved exclusively for those joining the parade.
πŸŒŸπŸŽ„πŸŒŸ
Participation is free, just secure your slot and get ready to be part of the magic.

Welcome to your November newsletter from Plymstock Camera Club, here’s what we have in store as the nights get longer.

Tuesday 4 November – PDI 2, two sections, Fashion and Own Choice.

Tuesday 11 November – A presentation from Keith Mason. Keith has a vast catalogue of images that he has made into audio visual short β€˜films’. His themes are varied and could inspire you to bring some of your images together to make an AV of locations you have visited, events you have attended etc.

Tuesday 11 November is also the closing date for Trophy 2 – Wildlife Print and Scapes PDI. The competition will be judged on

Tuesday 2 December.

Tuesday 18 November – Show and tell on the theme of the National Trust. Bring along up to 3 images from either the Saltram club visit, or other National Trust properties you have visited.

Tuesday 25 November – This week we have the selection of prints from the Western Counties Travelling Exhibition. These prints are a sample from over 200 that were selected for the Members Exhibition held in May and are some of the best images from clubs all over the West Country.

For those who might be interested, our sub-group that meets monthly on Zoom will next meet at 7.30 on Wednesday 19 November. We have a different theme each month, this one is "Intimate Landscapes". It is a very informal group, everyone has an opportunity to share and discuss their images.

City Centre Christmas Lights switch on is Thursday 13 November, followed by the Barbican Lights switch on Saturday 15 November.
