The EASTMAN GOLDEN BOOK II launched this morning here is is alongside my Eastman G-1.

Much more than a catalogue, the Golden Book is packed with original wartime pieces, archival imagery, recreated artwork and detailed history surrounding some of the most iconic flight jackets ever produced.

My own G-1 has gradually become something far more personal than simply a jacket. The Operation Herrick Afghanistan liner was added as a quiet reminder of another chapter of life and service — a connection between past and present stitched into a piece already built on heritage and history.

The older this jacket gets, the more character it develops. Creases, wear and movement slowly becoming part of its own story.

For anyone interested in military aviation history, authentic flight jackets and the craftsmanship behind them, the Eastman Golden Book II is a superb addition to the coffee table.

Somewhere between leaving and arriving, there’s a space that doesn’t really belong to either.

The commute isn’t just distance — it’s a transition. A slow unwinding of one version of yourself before stepping into the next. The road becomes a kind of mirror, not showing you what you look like, but what you carry.

Same route. Same speed. Different weight each day.

Some days it’s quiet. Others, it’s loud in ways no one else can hear.

But this in-between space… this is where things settle. Or don’t.

Where thoughts catch up.
Where moments replay.
Where nothing is demanded, but everything is present.

Not the start. Not the end.
Just the space between.
