The final, final of the DJM League Notice Board season was a cracker. Both teams played amazingly, just unfortunate that it went to penalties as both teams totally deserved the win.
Congrats to Goals Soccer Schools U10 on the victory, but massive credit to the very worth runners up Map Kings U9 2025/26

This is why I love sports photography, it's capturing moments of passion and excitement, people achieving something they've worked hard for and really care about.

This might 'only' be the finish of the Plymouth Half Marathon Primary School's Challenge, but I know that teachers and volunteers worked hard in the weeks leading up to and on the day of the run, bringing their energy to making the school experience great. Seeing thousands of children being active, sharing the experience together is always a fantastic thing.

I would love to send this photo to the lady in it, so if you know her, get her to drop me a message :)

Penalties - The Highs, The Lows

It takes a brave, and mentally strong person to be a goalkeeper at the best of times, but during penalties, that's even harder. On the other side, you've got the players taking the penalties, lots of pressure, nowhere to hide, too much time to think, then it's over in a blink.

So many emotions for all players in a short space of time, either due to the full weight on your shoulders, or the inability to directly affect anything and just watch the action unfold, supporting, encouraging, consoling and hoping for the best.

Here are a few photos that capture some of those moments from last weekend's cup final.

Huge respect to all of the players, no one likes to win, or go out on pens.

The start of the Run Plymouth Half Marathon Primary School's Challenge on the Hoe today.
Always a great event, and a little sad that this is the last year my daughter will be taking part as she goes to 'big school' next year. She's always loved being involved and running with her friends.
Great work by all involved, and massive thanks to the teachers and volunteers from all of the schools and organisations who make this possible.

One of my favourite header shots to date.
Headers, and other moment when a ball is played to a player have to be the most difficult moments to capture well with a long lens. You have to pick out the right player quickly, then nail focus and framing. So many times you land on a player just off from where the action is.
Then you have to have an athletic player to make it look really good.
Very pleased with the final result :)
