Finally managed to grab a shot of the very enigmatic Jess. One of two active buzzards in the area.

Not the easiest thing to hold your phone up against your spotting scope. However, as she's so camera shy, and I've yet to find a way for her not to see me... This will have to do.

This ain't bad considering, I'm sat in my office, a 100m away from her.... Behind glass....

A new edition to The Nuts Inn gang, Little Conkers. Who's developed such confidence that she's happy to sit feeding within 3 feet of me and the camera gear...

I have often found many wild animals are more settled when you hide yourself behind a lens. Remember, there are zero cyclopian apex predators in the wild, and thus, there's a natural disassociation of perceived threats. As soon as you pop your head out, there's an "Oh!! S**t!!" moment, and they tend to understandably become weary and more often than not, will hoof it, unless they know you well.

Delighted to see, one of the most beautifully coloured boys returning to The Nuts Inn. The Ever Elusive Bibbly Bob Bobbits Bobbingtons. He left the area last May, and I had thought the worst. However, a few weeks back I spotted what I thought was him sat quietly in a tree, though at first I wasn't entirely sure.

Yesterday, he came trundling in with Grace and Trudy, for breakfast. When I called his name "Bibbly Bob", he very cautiously wandered over, stared at me, did a few circles, then realising it was me, began singing the song he sings in my presence.

Such a delight to have him back. And so he'll start waking everyone up in the neighbourhood with his calls, at 5am. 😉

Meanwhile "Is that breakfast?"

Just another morning of investigation and searching for the noms.

Here, Grace is trying to work out if there's anything edible lurking in and around the stick. I often observe Grace paying close attention to the underside of twigs, branches and grasses, scraping them away with her beak and talons, searching for little runaways.

You could almost mistake her for being a raptor during these moments, as the speed at which she pounces and grabs her prey is astonishing.

It's amazing how adept these tiny few week old chicks are at flying, even if it is only for short distances.
