Dogs at Arran Show.

Wet weather was the order of the day at Arran Show, but the dogs took it all in their stride. From proud poses to muddy adventures, they were a joy to photograph. 🐾

Can anyone spot their pooches?

Looking Up at Eas Mor

Sometimes the best view isn't in front of you – it's above you.

Standing beneath the towering trees at Eas Mor, I paused for a moment and looked up. The branches reached skyward in every direction, creating a natural cathedral of wood, texture and light. Captured in black and white, this image highlights the strength, character and timeless beauty of Arran's woodland landscapes.

It's a reminder that nature has a way of changing your perspective when you take the time to stop and look.

Eas Mor Library and the Shore at Kildonan

Among the trees and the tide, traces of stories linger.

At Eas Mor, the library in the woods gathers thoughts and memories, pages pinned to the wind, words left for strangers to find.

On the beach below, rope and seaweed mark the edge where land meets sea, each piece shaped by time and weather.

Both places hold something of what’s been lost and what remains, reminders that even silence can speak.

Brodick Highland Games — Arran

Yesterday’s Games brought together strength, rhythm and colour — from the caber toss and hammer throw to the sound of the pipes echoing across the field.

It’s a day that celebrates tradition and community, where generations come together to keep these Scottish customs alive.

📸 Scenes from the field and parade — part of Arran’s enduring summer spirit.

Arran Show — through the rain

It rained for most of the day, but the show carried on with the same spirit and colour that makes it such a highlight of the island year.

From the livestock pens to the tractors, the pipe band and the trade tents, there was a steady rhythm of people, animals and conversation — proof that a bit of weather never dampens Arran’s enthusiasm.

These are a few moments from the day — horses mid‑jump, dogs at work, farmers talking, and the field alive with umbrellas and laughter.

A great success once again.

Brodick Highland Games — 8 August

The Games return soon and it is always one of the most spirited days on the island.
These photographs are from last year. Cabers flying, dancers in full swing and the sound of the pipes carrying across the field. Strength, rhythm and colour in every direction.
It is a day that captures Arran perfectly. Tradition, community and a bit of friendly competition.
📸 I will be there again this year, photographing the action for Arran in Pictures.

Arran Show — 5 August

The island’s agricultural show returns soon, bringing together farmers, families and visitors for one of Arran’s most characterful days.
These photographs are from last year. Tractors lined up in colour, livestock judged with care and quiet concentration, and the familiar rhythm of conversation around the pens.
It is a day that celebrates the island’s farming life and community spirit.
📸 I will be there again this year, photographing the show for Arran in Pictures.
