This series is based on my Grandad who unfortunately suffers from Alzheimer's disease a form of dementia that involves memory loss due to the deterioration of brain tissue. Since being diagnosed with this disease, a change in my Grandad's personality has been evident and very saddening for the people around him.As my Grandad's Alzheimers is inevitably going to worsen, I decided that it would be imperative to begin this project now, to someday show him these images as proof that these events did occur and to portray the people who are dear to him. Alongside this, these images help represent his mental state, personality and items that hold some form of sentimental value. These images will be used in an attempt to help him engage with his memories. This has been an emotional project which has allowed me to spend more time with my Grandparents and it has helped me understand this terrible disease even more and I hope that this project will someday help him remember.
