⚠️ Storm Austen is heading for Cornwall, and the Met Office says flying debris could be a danger to life.

Growing in force from the early hours of Friday, the amber wind warning runs from 3am to 10am on Friday, with a yellow warning staying in place until 2pm. It covers all of Cornwall.

What we’re being told to expect:

🌬️ Gusts of 60 to 70mph
🌊 Large waves around sea fronts
🌧️ Very strong winds combined with spells of heavy rain
🔌 Possible power cuts

The wind is forecast to be north-westerly. If you live on or near the water, tonight is the night to move the bins, bring in the garden furniture and tie down the trampoline.

It also lands right as half-term begins, so if you’re travelling, check before you set off.

Please don’t go wave-watching on Friday. If you see someone in trouble on the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
