GNISSU is a working collection of monochrome portraits by English photographer Jon Dodd, all shot on / in tribute to Kodak’s heritage Tmax p3200 film stock.

Meaning “shadow” in ancient Sumerian, the individuals in GNISSU are not without damage but continue to make a conscious decision to exist; in balancing both their light and dark sides they are as much at home in the underworld as they are in the sun.

They move though life with purpose and conviction; heart on their sleeve, weapon at the ready…

I’m totally open to suggestions as to where this might have been taken, predominantly because I would like to be there for a bit. As to WHEN it was taken, my guess is…’60s? Mid ‘60s? Lovely stuff either way. Shot on Kodachrome. Purchased at auction. Photographer unknown. No edit necessary.

I try to make a habit of trawling through the archives every now and again and I often unearth something that’s somehow escaped the light of day until whenever the hell “now” is. As such, here’s another hi-key banger of Head of The Valley of The Temple, Mr. Harkness himself of Stay Close Clothing. Film sim a custom tweak of Mr. Ritchie Roesch’s Kodak Tmax p3200 recipe. Shot for GNISSU. Lit by Kenro.
