This is honestly the number one worry I hear after a session, especially when it feels like we haven’t sat still for a single second of it.

Meanwhile, I’m delivery a gallery full of: laughter, windswept hair, close cuddles, undiluted joy, tiny hands, looks of love and all of the little details and in-between moments you might not notice when you’re living it.

Your children don’t need to be perfectly behaved or to even sit still for us to create beautiful photographs. Some of my most loved galleries have come from the sessions that have felt the ‘messiest’ in the moment.

I remember having a vision in my head for what I wanted my photography to feel like.
Warm, honest, emotive, and full of life.

But in those first couple of years, there can be such a disconnect between what you see and what you’re able to create.
And I remember the feeling before I could fully capture it.

The change doesn’t happen overnight.
It happens slowly and quietly, alongside you, in the background.
You make mistakes, you learn from them, small shifts happen,
and along the way, there are moments that finally click.

Even now, every single session teaches me something.
There’s always something I take away - a thought of how I can push things further, make it even better next time.

2022 me didn’t quite have the skills yet,
but she had the vision, and she kept going.

I think that’s the part we don’t talk about enough.
You don’t become the photographer you imagined all at once.

You grow into them, one session at a time.
