Some recent pictures taken on a canal walk from Old Wolverton and the Galleon Pub towards New Bradwell, past the old British Railways carriage works sheds that once housed the Royal Train, On past the new development at the ex Wolveron Town Football ground that also had a tarmac cycle track around the perimeter of the pitch. You can see the cyclists represented in miniature on the arm of the footballer statue, Then on a little further. Stopping a short of the Bradwell Windmill, maybe take that in on the next foray.

Max is back from his grooming session, a bit self conscious though !! You can almost see it in his eyes. He seemed a lot better once the scarf was removed. Very smart though, he looks like a proper Border Terrier now and for a little while at least.

Some pictures from last week's trip to Southwold in Suffolk. We picked the right day for it, the only disadvantage was that travelling east in the morning and west in the evening means you have the sun in your eyes in both directions, Especially this time of year when the sun is very low in the sky.
Going to Southwold, and several other places along that coast is like taking a step back in time. It very much maintains the old fashioned seaside resort flavour with its beach huts and harbour and the smell of fish from the fisherman's huts and boats

It was such a pleasure to get out with my cameras in the sunshine over that last two days. It seems I have been stuck indoors for months looking out of the window at the weather, the wet, cold, cloudy, and misty sort. I bought a new camera before Christmas, a Fujifilm X-T5 and I have had the opportunity to properly try it out. I have taken it out on my twice daily dog walks but they were mainly dull colourless and misty days. The photos were OK but not very attractive. In fact they looked a look better when I changed them to black and white. So yesterday I drove to the village of Ravenstone, only a few miles from my home, Olney, in Buckinghamshire. I returned today to spend more time there and It was while I was wandering around that I hit upon the idea that I don't really need to travel great distances, there are plenty of quaint little villages within a very few miles of me. Actually today I had originally planned to drive to Turville in the Chiltern Hills to take some picture there, where the film 'Goodnight Mr Tom' was filmed and the TV Series 'The Vicar of Dibley' was made. I knew what was there as I had checked it out on Google Earth last night. However I was a bit late getting out today, so instead of a hundred mile round trip I revisited Ravenstone where I went in yesterday's sunshine and I actually think it was the better location. In fact I decided while strolling around to probably stay more local in the future. Olney is more or less central to the triangle of three towns, Milton Keynes, Northampton and Bedford. All of them boom about ten miles away. I don't think I will be visiting the towns much but there are numerous little villages in the area. So think I now have a project. The low sun was a bit of a problem today but I'm not complaining !!!

A few more pictures from my recent trip to Ravenstone that didn't make the ten pictures a post limit yesterday,,

I think I found a new angle to photograph the St Peter & St Paul Church in Olney. I must have taken hundreds of pictures of the church over the years from almost every angle but I really like the setting of this one.

I managed to fit in a return visit to the Windmills at Quainton and Brill early last week. This is a picture of Brill windmill that sits proudly on top of the hill. I know the hill very well from my cycle racing days as it was often a feature of my training rides down among the Chiltern Hills. The last time I visited the light was not so good. There is a spectacular view of quite a lot of North Buckinghamshire from the top on a clear day, as this was and you can probably just about make out. I used my Fuji X-T5 with a 16-80mm f4 lens.

I took this photo late in the afternoon at Emberton Park a couple of days ago. It shows the effect of the setting sun on half of the photo and other half looks as though it is in black and white, but it is actually still frost covered from the overnight frost and been in the shade all day. It doesn't show up too well but the lake had been frozen all day.

By the way this picture was taken with the Fujifilm X100VI that I mentioned in the previous post.

Finally its arrived, the replacement for my Fujifilm X100V is the much sought after Fujifilm X100VI.

There is no difference in appearance to its predecessor but major upgrades internally. A 40mb sensor and IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation) combine to make the perfect every day, travel and carry around camera.

It has a 23mm fixed lens and with the crop sensor that gives it the equivalent of 35mm lens on a full frame camera. It does have a built in crop zoom for 50mm and 70mm equivalent, but I think that I prefer to zoom with my feet and keep the full sensor capacity available, I can always crop the picture in processing.

I did enjoy the previous X100V camera and took many photos with it and had no problems but I couldn't resist this. It's very discreet and pocket size.
