Before the spinning jenny and power looms, and centuries before the Industrial Revolution, cloth was made in looks like this.
The war-weighted loom is considered one of the most important weaving technologies of the ancient and medieval world. Used across Europe from the Iron Age through much of the Middle Ages, it consisted of vertical warp threads stretched under tension by stone or clay weights hanging at the bottom.
Weavers worked standing or seated, carefully passing the thread back and forth, creating fabric. It was a slow, skilled process that could take days, or even weeks for a garment.
