I can’t believe it’s been an entire year since one of the most incredible experiences of my life! Here are a selection of images from my hike from Lukla Airport to Everest Base Camp accompanied by the most incredible people ⛰️
It is of course a completely inexhaustive collection of images from the hike. I’ll post more from my experiences in Kathmandu and Pokhara, but these are for the trekking aspect of one big adventure.
Image One- A man peers at the slopes in our small plane approaching Lukla Airport, a small landing strip from which most Everest treks begin.
Image Two- Alex , waiting for the rest of our group before we begin to walk 🍊
Image Three- two pups, just to remind me how many beautiful and resilient dogs we met right up to the end of the trek.
Image Four- a small boy who let me take pictures of him, in return he took a lot of pictures of me and the football match that followed.
Image Five- a high stakes match between the visitors and the local children!
Image Six and Seven- colours and life of which we were only passing through.
Image Eight- Rujra one of our lead guides points towards a distant break in the clouds exposing Everest.
Image Nine- A school on their break, Namche Baazar.
Image Ten- A common site but astounding every time, a Sherpa carries an incredible weight along the trail.
Image Eleven- memorial for all those who have lost their lives on the slopes of Everest, with Rob Hall’s memorial most prominent and Mallory’s above in the mist behind it.
Image Twelve and Thirteen- The cold and altitude sickness begin to kick in for some of us, Casper.
Image fourteen- Rujra looks on with a rare grimace on the hardest day of the hike!
Image fifteen- just before reaching Everest base camp, a tired and determined crew.
Image Sixteen- an ice field moves off into the distance
Image Seventeen- bare and beautiful landscape at Everest Base Camp.
