First walk amongst the hills since 2024 (was a bit distracted in 2025). 10km of off grid bliss. Bit of a chill in the air still but equal parts shower and sunshine.

With the sad closure of HangOn, I’ve decided to make my new centre of choice. Bouldering now starting to look like this, with cake and coffee of course. Thanks to for the memories: onward and quite literally upwards.

On Saturday, we climbed our last routes at HangOn.

It’s strange how a place that started as just a climbing wall became something far bigger. It became a routine, a refuge, and a place full of people who slowly turned into friends.

HangOn was never just about the climbing. It was the banter between attempts, the encouragement when a move felt impossible, the shared groans when the setters were feeling particularly cruel, and the laughs that carried across the mats.

And of course… the cakes and the milkshakes that somehow tasted even better after a session.

But what really made HangOn special was the community. The staff, the climbers, the familiar faces you’d see week after week — all part of something that felt welcoming, supportive and genuinely fun to be part of.

Places like that don’t come along often, and they leave a mark.

So thank you HangOn — for the climbs, the laughs, the encouragement, and for building a community that meant far more than just a place to train.

You’ll be missed.

First high camp of the year started well with a lovely sunset and views across to the Mamores and Ben Nevis. Unfortunately, the weather turned for the worst and the anticipated break for a starry interlude never came and I had to retreat into the tent for 12 hours till the weather broke at 10am. Lonnnng night in a sleeping bag. were my unwitting life saver with their awesome tent (Tetri) and sleeping bag (SkyehIgh). Kudos 👏

Never a bad day to visit Glencoe for a bite to eat, returning back through Oban for a drink. Amusing to think that CalMac pay someone to put Christmas lights on their ferries.

Glen Coe never ceases to amaze, especially on a dreich autumn day 👏🏻
