A flaming hot 🔥 Sunday at Duxford today with The Normandy Spitfire MK912 spitting some flames on start up to warm things up a bit more! This Spitfire is based at Sywell near Northampton and proudly carries the markings of 312 Squadron (Czech) which it wore on D-Day flown by Miroslav ‘Tony’ Liskutin DFC. He was believed to be the first allied fighter pilot to land in France on June 6th 1944. Today's pilot is George Haye and one of 3 Warbirds displaying over Leiston memorial in Suffolk.

When I photographed the Phacelia flowers the other day there were lots of these Painted Lady butterflies fluttering about. These butterflies migrate all the way from Africa to the UK much like the Ospreys at Rutland Water. It's amazing to think that they can travel so far. It's also interesting to note how well camouflaged they are in the second image when the wings are closed.
