✨ Flashback Friday ✨
MMP 111 — N51.0589 E0.0357 (2021)

Back to this one from 2021. A small group of trees catching the early morning light in the Ashdown Forest, transposed into a world of metallic rust and teal textures to really set off the colour of the trees.

It really comes to life on the Brushed Aluminium. Available in 130x60cm, 87x40cm or bespoke sizes to fit your space.

Opening today , Arboretum, a contemporary landscape collection exploring the enduring presence of trees and our connection to them. Featuring paintings, photography, prints, and mixed-media works, the exhibition brings together UK-based artists Daniel Ablitt, Bee Bartlett, Rory Carnegie, Clare Halifax, Luella Martin, Mark Munroe-Preston and Trevor Price, whose practices reflect emotional, environmental, and historical relationships with the natural world.

Arboretum considers how trees function as symbols of memory, refuge, and ecological awareness within contemporary landscape art. Through diverse approaches to material, process, and place, the exhibition highlights trees as a site for personal reflection and environmental engagement.

Open Saturday 7th March

✨ Flashback Friday ✨
MMP 110 — N51.0518 E0.0891 (2021)

Back to a misty morning in 2021 with this small stand of pines in the Ashdown Forest mist, Deja Vu? Five minutes earlier or later and it would have been nothing special but at that moment it was breathtaking. So being dragged out at the crack of dawn by the dogs every morning defiantly has its advantages.

MMP 109 - N50.8971 W0.1901 - 2021

When I took the original photo of this tree at Saddlescombe / Newtimber Hill on a snowy winters morning just as it was getting light, I had no idea what I was going to do with it but I loved its shape, the way it stretched out of the frame. It turned out to be good choice and it has been a very popular piece ever since, the combination of vivid red and blues/ teals works so well. We had such a lovely walk that morning in the snow, a rare treat so near the south coast, it reminded me of being a kid in Yorkshire again.

No snow this weekend, I hope you have fun whatever you are doing. Take care

🌳✨ Flashback Friday ✨🌳

MMP 108 - “N51.0305 E0.0676” (2021 - Ashdown Forest )

Revisiting this quiet morning in Ashdown Forest, with a lone tree stood blazing in autumn fire against a dreamy teal haze.

I remember the stillness that day, watching and waiting in the frozen grass as the sun crested the horizon and began to illuminate the tree in golden light. I am not a great one for planning but I had seen the tree a couple of days before with its autumnal leaves and thought that a bit of dawn light on them would make it sing, and it did. I ended up with a whole series of photos as the sun illuminated it and just had to decide which looked most pleasing.

Have a good weekend 😎

I’m absolutely delighted to share that MMP 179 — N50.9237 E0.0287 has been selected for the Artists’ Open Call Exhibition 2026 at .

Seeing this piece displayed in the gallery space, printed at 100cm on brushed aluminium, surrounded by such an incredible wealth of artistic talent was quite a buzz this afternoon.

Huge thanks to Kellie Miller Arts for creating this opportunity and for supporting artists across the region in their beautiful Church Street gallery. It’s an honour to be part of the first annual Open Call Exhibition in this historic Brighton space. And congratulations to all the other artists who have work in the show!

The exhibition runs from 14 February – 30 March 2026 — if you’re nearby, do go and experience the work in person.
