Fitness Photographer - Christopher Bailey

Originally I set out to be a graphic designer, then in 1997 while living in Basingstoke I signed onto a media course which covered Design, Photography, Film Production and Journalism. During my design classes I learnt about the basics of Photoshop -which has proven to be a vital skill years down the line when I switched over to digital cameras. A lot of

things have changed in the industry (especially over the last 10 years) and I feel very lucky to have learned to use a camera in the good old days of film. I turned these skills into a business back in 2004 and since then I have travelled the world as a commercial photographer for many high profile clients. I have always been involved in Fitness due to my background playing Ice Hockey for Great Britain. Becoming a fitness & bodybuilding photographer is something that has just naturally occurred for me over the last few years, starting with a few brand names that spread to magazine and private portfolio work. Fitness is now around 90% of my work load - which I love! Working alongside some of the world's best Fitness Models, Athletes and Bodybuilders each day has rubbed off on me a little more than I would have originally expected. With a push from fellow bodybuilder photographer Gillies Crofta and Mark Coles at M10 Fitness, I took it on myself to go through the shoot process first hand. I like to think this benefits the position I am in now knowing what everyone I work with goes through. I now have the utmost respect for the dedication of my clients.

It only takes one.

One photograph that stops you mid-swipe.

One that immediately becomes the profile picture.

The one you send to everyone.

The one you keep coming back to because something about it just hits differently.

Of course, we’ll give you a whole gallery.

But there’s nearly always that one.

And finding it is half the fun.

Which shot would make your wall?

Marbella, round two. 🇪🇸

Last time we took Bailey abroad, we came home with full memory cards, some of our favourite work of the year and one very obvious conclusion:
We needed to do it again.

So it’s official.

Our Marbella 2027 dates are secured.

Location shoots. Spanish sunshine. Incredible backdrops. And another opportunity to create the kind of imagery you simply can’t make back home.

More details will be coming soon.

For now, consider this your first warning.

Still enjoying the view from behind here. 📸

Thousands of shoots. Countless faces. More years behind a camera than we’d probably like to count…

And somehow, this bit still doesn’t get old.

That moment when the light lands, the client absolutely nails it and you know before you’ve even checked the screen that you’ve got the shot.

There’s a lot of experience behind the camera.
But there’s still a hell of a lot of enjoyment too.

Golden hour. Without waiting for golden hour.

Warm light. Long shadows. That last-light-of-the-day feeling.

Except none of it happened by accident.

One of the things I love most about working in the studio is having the freedom to create an entirely different world within four walls; shaping the light, playing with shadow and building an atmosphere around the person in front of the camera.

Because sometimes the backdrop isn't a place.
It's a feeling.

When you've built the subject, you don't need to build the scene.

No elaborate backdrop.
No props.
Nothing competing for attention.

Just carefully shaped light, clean composition and a physique that deserves to be the entire focus of the frame.

Sometimes stripping everything back creates the strongest image of all.

If you've done the work, let us show it at its best.

We can be so focused on what’s next that we forget this was once the goal 💫

I’m definitely guilty of this!

Always looking ahead, working towards the next thing and not really stopping to take it all in.

I used to look at women who were much further ahead and think, why am I not there yet? Without acknowledging that they’d been on their journey far longer than I had.

I wanted the result, but if I’m honest, I didn’t always appreciate the time and growth it would take to get there.

We’re often in such a rush to reach the end goal that we miss the best part.

Because when you finally get there, you realise the magic wasn’t only in the result. It was in the confidence you built, the lessons you learnt, the setbacks you worked through and who you became along the way.

There will always be another milestone to reach or something to improve. Trust me, I’ll always find something 😂

But you can be excited about what’s next while still appreciating where you are now.

So keep looking forward, but don’t rush your journey…

You might be living in a chapter you once couldn’t wait to reach 💜

Sometimes the biggest pressure comes from yourself.

25 days until I’m back shooting, and I’ve found myself getting in my own head a little this week.

After 8 months away from dieting and shoot prep to focus on building, and with my last prep not quite going to plan, I think I’ve naturally put more pressure on myself this time.

Comparing myself to others, but also to myself.

Second guessing my progress and where I want it to be.

I see so many women get into their own heads during their journey, and I can relate.

Sometimes all you can do is keep showing up for yourself and remember to have some fun with it too 🙌🏻

25 days. Bring it on 🔥

Not every fitness shoot needs to look like a fitness shoot.

Sometimes the physique is only the starting point.

Add a location with character, a strong concept and a completely different energy, and suddenly you’re creating something that feels more campaign than progress shot.

That’s where things get interesting.

We love taking what you’ve built and finding a way to photograph it that nobody expects.

You bring the physique, then let’s have some fun.

You don’t have to fit a category to own the frame.

Strong. Feminine. Athletic. Confident.

A great shoot gives you the space to explore all of it.

Different styling, different poses and a completely different side of yourself than the one you see every day in the gym mirror.

Because sometimes the most exciting part of stepping in front of the camera is discovering just how many ways you can be photographed.

Come with an open mind.
Leave with images you never imagined you could create.

Strong can be soft too.

Fitness photography doesn’t have to mean hard poses, dramatic shadows and flexing for every frame.

Sometimes it’s quieter.

Beautiful shape. Softer styling. A relaxed pose and an image that celebrates femininity and strength without needing to choose between the two.

Your shoot can be whatever version of you feels right.

Tell us how you want to be photographed. We’ll create from there.
