Every photograph tells a story... and hers began in the sweetest way.

For her first birthday session, her parents asked for a floral theme and then said, "you decide." So I built a brand new setup from the ground up. The florals, the toys she's holding, everything chosen to sit beside a dress that was made just for her.

Mum and Dad stepped into the frame too, because her story is their story. And I got to tell it.

Twelve months ago she fit in my arms and couldn't lift her own head. Today she's smashing cake in the cutest little outfit and laughing so loudly in a gold tub like she owns the entire room 🥹

Someone in mexico 🇲🇽 started pushing babies' faces into cake for their first bite and called it La Mordida. Centuries later, the mess is still the point, because the mess is a whole year of becoming her. Hold her close. Scrape the frosting off her ears. Take both photos.

There is something so special about being asked to capture a family’s story more than once.
