I unfortunately didn't make the shortlist for the Renard Press poetry competition, but having looked at the titles they chose I can absolutely agree they made some very good choices. I can't wait to order myself a copy of the book once it's available to buy ☺💖

The publisher however did offer to publish all the poems online that were longlisted as they were 'stunned by the quality of the longlist' which was incredibly touching to read and just adds to my eagerness to get myself a copy of the book to read the shortlisted entries too 😍

If anyone would like to read it, you can find my entry here: https://renardpress.com/longlisted-poem/greenhill/ along with information on where to order a copy of the book, or sponsor the project

The book Kinship is a project that celebrates a sense of belonging in non traditional forms, so I wrote my entry about my friend Jessica's house who growing up, have always been like a close second family (the kind where it's socially acceptable to walk in without any prior notice and help yourself to food from the cupboard- no questions asked 😅), so it seemed incredibly fitting, and even more humbling to have made it as far as it did within the competition. If any of you were as blessed as me to have a friend who themselves and their family became such an integral part of your childhood then always hold them close ✨

I cannot even tell you how excited I am to have just been longlisted for the Renard Press Poetry Competition on Kinship for my poem Greenhill! 🥹

I am absolutely over the moon just to have been considered and I'm so excited to see which of the poems make the shortlist for their upcoming book ✨

I can tell it's going to be a fantastic read just from seeing the longlist and I can't wait to order myself a copy when it's available 💖

If you'd like to help support their upcoming book why not pre order yourself a copy or make a small donation to their project ☺

I'm so excited to see lots of local providers coming together in Grantham to run a fair to showcase the brilliant range of support, home help and care services that are available to the local public

Are you local to Grantham, interested in knowing what services are about, or maybe what jobs are available in the health and social care industry? Pop along to the Guildhall on the 29th September and join everyone for a brilliant chat, a cuppa and some fantastic talks from professionals in the industry

(I'll be going so if you're following as a friend or family member you're morally obligated to join me for conversation, coffee, and bad dad jokes 😉)

I am so incredibly excited to announce a new project that I am collaborating on with PTSD UK in a bid to create a really meaningful and uplifting piece of work whilst working to collect donations to aid them in the incredible work they do supporting people struggling with PTSD and C-PTSD to access resources, information and sign posting support.

"In the realm of trauma recovery, the power of art and words cannot be underestimated. They offer solace, empowerment, and a voice to those who have endured the ‘storms of life’".

We are working closely together to create a poetry anthology for a book called Hiding in the Sea from the Rain where PTSD UK are inviting entries from people to submit a poem (or series of 4 poems) under the following categories to contribute to an anthology that we hope will offer sincerity, empowerment and comfort to readers:

The View from the Sea; focuses on the earlier moments of recovery, looking at how you feel and react to things, perhaps even while not yet knowing what the underlying reason to them might be. How it feels to be so submerged in water that you can’t feel or see the difference between the sea and the rain.

Facing the Rain; thinks about the start of the recovery journey, looking at the rain and how to move forward, recognising that every step is still progress, even if it’s just to look back at the sea and see how far you’ve come.

Surviving; reflects the part of the recovery journey where coping mechanisms are in place, and while there may still be some distance to travel, we know we’ve come a long way to make it through the rain.

Thriving; is about what it looks like to thrive, or what the poet anticipates thriving to look like in their recovery journey, it is victory, hope, perseverance, and acceptance. Understanding that more rain may come and that’s ok. Celebrating your progress and offering kindness to yourself when you need it most.

I was so excited when proposing this initiative to PTSD UK to see how much enthusiasm it was met with by Jacqui, who has been so supportive in bringing this to life and I can't wait to see where this project might take us.

You can read up about the project here on their blog post where we talk about the book, and how we aim to use it as a resource to empower readers, offer a creative space for those struggling with PTSD who wish to take part, and to raise vital fund for a charity making a difference to the lives of many others;

Finally made myself update my portfolio to reflect what I've spent the past 2 years working in the freelancing world around my job at Twinkl ✨

I am really both chuffed and also sad to say though that I have now left my amazing team at Twinkl to move onto new ventures and this week started my new with Farrow Friends to continue supporting them in the amazing work they do and I'm so excited to be a part of this new journey ❤️

It was a very hard decision to leave Twinkl; I made some amazing friends who made my work such a joy to be part of and I will miss them dearly, but I'm in a position with my health now where I needed to slow back down to a 5 day week rather than working my normal 6 day pattern (not including additional freelancing commissions).

I've absolutely loved supporting Farrow Friends with their rebranding and marketing journey, and having the opportunity to inform certain administrative areas of the business from my previous experience both self employed and in other roles so I'm really excited to embark on this journey with Lauren and her fantastic team, but I am even more excited to be working on this with such a hardworking and ambitious person with a drive to improve the care and support industry by providing services that aim to fill crucial gaps in care.

I also have a really exciting freelance collaboration on the horizon that I can't wait to share with you soon, please note for the time being this will be the last large project I take on as a freelancer in design, however, I'm still open for very limited small commissions here and there and as ever weddings for those of you who are in need of a photographer (we do book up quickly though so if you want a date ready for next year pop over to .photography and drop us a message ❤️)

If you'd like to take a look at my website to see some of the work I've been doing recently you can find it at www.bluesky-noon.co.uk
