Stepping Stones Norwich

Stepping Stones is a vibrant charity promoting the
social inclusion of people with learning disabilities.

We give tailored training and we support each individual
to fulfill their potential and encourage steps towards independence. Stepping Stones is a small, vibrant charity for adults with learning disabilities in Norwich. Our vision is for a fairer, more equitable society where adults with learning disabilities receive the education, training and support they require to fulfill their potential. Our

mission is to increase our students’ knowledge and confidence, encouraging them to lead more independent and fulfilling lives within their community. Working in a person centred way, we build life skills through our main subject areas - art & enterprise, cooking, creative media, supported employment, health and fitness and horticulture. We love to make food together, cooking with the fresh fruit and veg we grow at our allotment which is a short walk away from the main centre. We produce all kinds of arts and crafts designed and made by our students, these products are then sold as part of our enterprise project. We’re big on photography and video too, with our own mini TV channel, Stepping Stones TV. We really enjoy meeting people and we like finding ways to meet new people, share experiences and create chances for people to learn from each other.

We gratefully received funding from the fantastic Norwich Consolidated charities to deliver a project we have wanted to do for some time - supporting our students with Independent DIY Home Life Skills.

The funding has allowed us to recruit a new tutor, Clive, to work with our students as they learn & practice DIY skills & tasks that will promote their independence and confidence at home.

The students have already been busy, drilling, sanding, fixing and gluing - working on some nice new additions to the centre! 🔧🛠🪛👏

Our Seed to Sales project is in full swing at Stepping Stones - the first seedlings have been planted by the students at our centre on Heartsease Lane.

At our other allotment space the students have been cutting these beautiful flowers ready for us to sell at our pop up cafe at Carrow House.

Our good friends at Opening Doors ( ) are holding their Healthy, Happy, Safe Day 2026 on Wednesday 17 June at The Forum, Norwich; this time for Learning Disability Week 2026.

This is a brilliant FREE day – planned and run by people with learning disabilities for people with learning disabilities.

Unfortunately we can't be part of it this year but when we were a couple of years ago it was a real celebration so go check it out if you can.

We are so excited to announce that our adult T-shirts are now available from our website you can check it out, here!

Our t shirts feature our students hand drawn designs printed on unisex organic cotton t-shirts and ethically made. They are screen-printed in Norwich with a mix of environmentally friendly water based, discharge and phthalate free plastisol inks.

We’re excited to invite you to Nature’s Kaleidoscope – a vibrant art exhibition and series of FREE creative workshops showcasing the incredible talents of Stepping Stones’ students 💛

📍 Anteros Arts Foundation, Norwich
📅 Tuesday 12th – Saturday 16th May (10:30am–4:30pm)
📅 Sunday 17th May (10am–2pm)
Come along and get creative with hands-on workshops throughout the week, including:

All sessions are free and materials are provided – everyone is welcome!

🌱 Volunteers Wanted – Gardening Sessions 🌱

Do you enjoy being outdoors and getting your hands dirty? We’re looking for friendly volunteers to help with our gardening sessions!

You don’t need to be an expert gardener – just have a willingness to help with general gardening duties such as planting, weeding, tidying, and supporting our sessions. It’s a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, and make a positive difference in our community.

🧤 All abilities welcome on various days/times.
🌼 Fresh air, good company, and plenty of tea/coffee (sometimes cake) will be provided!

Our Seed to Sales project at our centre on Heartsease Lane is starting to bloom! This is a year round project where students are learning all aspects of flower growing, maintenance and how to give them love and care!

We then cut and sell the flowers as part of our enterprise project - today these flowers are on sale at our cafe at Carrow House - great work team!
