Attempts to kick start our new season have regrettably reinforced the fact that our current level of membership is not sustainable and we have taken the difficult decision to disband the society (at least for the medium term).

This means we will not now be meeting on 9th September as previously advised and our apologies to anyone who had intended to come along.

It's been a tough time for clubs and societies such as ours but who knows what the future will bring and thank you for your past support.

We're delighted to announce that after a long Covid enforced break we will be re-commencing our indoor programme of presentations, competitions and member's evenings on Thursday 9th September. It's been 18 months since we last met as a group so there'll be plenty to catch up on. For now at least we plan to meet every two weeks and a full programme of events is currently being scheduled. We also hope to organise regular photography trips to places of local interest as well as indoor tutorial sessions.

After much debate we have also decided to change our meeting venue, so from now on all our indoor sessions will be at the St.John's Church Centre on School Lane in Hartford from 19:30 to 21:30. Further details can be found on our website northwichphotographicsociety.co.uk. All meetings will of course adhere to the latest health and safety guidelines.

Our first meeting on 9th September will be a member's evening and therefore a great chance for anyone wishing to join the society to come along, see what we're about and get to know us. We aim to cater for all abilities and interests and are always keen to welcome new members. Although the full schedule is still being developed we plan for our meeting on 23rd September to be a speaker presentation and on 7th October we will hold our first open competition (members only) with entries to be submitted at the previous meeting on 23rd.

Below is just a taste of the images our members have produced in the past.

Please contact us either via our website or page if you would like more information on the society and becoming a member.

The club membership has made the difficult decision to cancel further meetings for this season given the general uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus outbreak. The health and wellbeing of our members and our guest presenters and judges takes priority, and although regretful it is the right thing to do in current circumstances.

We will return with a new season and programme of talks, presentations and competitions in the autumn. In the meantime, this page will continue to provide updates and a few images from our club archives. Keep well everybody.

Due to a cancellation of our scheduled talk this Thurs (10th) on "Iceland in Summer", club member Robert Rhead has kindly agreed to step in and give us a talk on "Exploring Lightroom for Landscape and Portrait Photography". Anyone who has seen Robert's competition entries or his webpage will recognise that Iceland will probably still play a part. With no disprespect to our scheduled speaker, this will be an evening we'll all learn something from.

As usual the start time is 7:30 pm at the Castle Community Church, Beeston St., Castle, Northwich, CW8 1ER. As always, newcomers welcome and this is a great chance to learn some tips and techniques.

Tomorrow evening's meeting (Thurs 27th) is dedicated to our annual Mono competition. Plenty of submissions from our members with 33 in the Projected Digital Images category alone so we should be in for a well fought battle for the top spots.

As usual the start time is 7:30 pm at the Castle Community Church, Beeston St., Castle, Northwich, CW8 1ER. As always, newcomers welcome. Come and have a look at what we do.

Our last competition was limited to entries of Still Life images only and seemed to cause as much of a challenge to our guest judge as it did for the society’s members ...

Despite this being a new theme for many, there were as usual some excellent submissions covering a range of subjects. David Whitehead was the evening’s star performer, coming first and third in the Large Prints category for his “Links” and “Bubbles” photographs and also winning the Projected Digital Images (PDI)section with his “Tomato” image. Second place in Large Prints went to Rodger Spurling for his "Coloured Zip", second place in PDIs to Richard Breland for "Banana Liquer" and third place to Beryl Harwood for "Spa Days" The winner of Small Prints was Grant Spurr with “Suppertime”. second was Cherry Rowe with "Chain Reaction" and third Greg Baker with "Inside the Glass Egg"

20/02/2020

There has been a change to our scheduled talk this evening. Rather than the published Pioneers of Colour Photography there will instead be a presentation on Black and White photography by Alan Angel. Timely, given it is our annual Mono competition next week.

As usual the start time is 7:30 pm at the Castle Community Church, Beeston St., Castle, Northwich, CW8 1ER. As always, newcomers welcome.

13/02/2020

Tonight's talk is by Harry Emmet on his photographic travels to Orkney. Start time is 7:30pm at our usual venue at the Castle Community Church, Beeston St., Castle, Northwich CW8 1ER. Newcomer always welcome!
